Cannot highlight without Logos 5 giving error & closing

Every time I attempt to highlight anything in Logos 5, a windows dialog box opens immediately saying "Logos Bible Software has stopped working.....A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. This has been going on for several months now.

Hi Stephen! Welcome to the forums... sorry you are having troubles. [:S]

The log you posted, unfortunately, is an old one from L4. We will need to take a look at new logs. Please follow the appropriate link in my signature line to learn more about enabling logging. Once you have turned logging on, start Logos, allow it to crash, and immediately grab the logs before starting logos up again. Make sure to grab the logos.log file as well.

I have followed the directions as instructed at the following link to enable logging but no new log files are being generated within the “Logos Log Files” folder in My Documents:

The old files still remain in this folder with no new log files being generated. I am holding the CNTL until Logos 5 sign in screen appears, sign in then recreate the problem, but no new log files within the Logos Log Files folder. What am I doing wrong?

did you run the EnableLogging.js script from step 4 (which probaly would require javascript to be enabled in the firstplace)?

When this is run, L5 will always write a Logos.log, regardless of how you started it.

The problem is that I had more than one “Logos Log Files” folders. The one I was accessing in the “My Documents” folder was not the right folder. The folder I needed was located in the C: drive under Users/Steve/My Documents. In any case, I have attached the right zip file folder which I believe has the current error logs. I deleted the folder under My Documents. That folder must have been generated when I had Logos 4. No clue why Logos 5 didn't load to the same folder when I installed it.

To reiterate the problem, as soon as I try to highlight anything in Logos 5, the program crashes.

This seems very similar to http://community.logos.com/forums/t/75390.aspx which looks like it was fixed by updating a Bible.

There is a case for this issue that is currently being investigated. But in the meantime you could try running "Update Resources" in the command bar and see if that helps, and if not, whatever workaround fix Tommy did for Rick in that other should probably will work for you too.

The link: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/75390.aspx only takes me back to this forum. In any case, when I opened Logos 5 a few minutes ago, an update was automatically downloading. After the download and restart, the error is no longer occurring. I am now able to highlight without a crash. Thanks for your help Seth.
