What if the Logos Credit is Unearned? Is this a test? (Deu 13).

I was happily and completely lost using my new iPod. I clicked on the email app and a whole bunch of emails appeared.

The top one was an exciting $20 credit for my participation in the 500K event! However, I didn't participate. Well, that's not entirely true. I read all the forum messages about everyone's troubles doing the 'works' in order to receive the 'pay'. I wonder if they gave me 'credit' for that?

On the other hand, if I use it, I'd be a hypocrite. But that wouldn't be a big hurdle. I just don't want Logos to know it for a fact.

Luckily, my curiousity got the better of me. I checked my account and it said my credit balance was: $00.

This sounds like a story from the 1st century, from what many wrongly regarded as 'the prophet'.

It won't show up as a credit. Instead, you would get an email with a discount code that will take $20 off an order. So you can choose to use it or not (if you get the email).

I got a $20 discount email too. At first, it did not register that I didn't do anything except download the free commentary on Mark. After you mentioned that you did not do anything to get it, I reviewed the blog entry and sure enough, I too don't qualify for the discount. Bummer. Oh well, I value my integrity over $20.

Thanks to Doc, I took the code and ran it up to the final 'buy' before canceling. The credit showed up!

So, looking on the bright side, Logos mistakes are programmed well. Kudos!

I wonder whether you guys completed the survey without necessarily completing your profile. If not, even then Logos may have still wanted to extend the offer to you as well.

Well, ok. My memory's not what it should be. I only remember what Logos was supposed to do; not what I was supposed to do!

But hopefully they sent the email out correctly (though apparently not everyone got theirs yet?) and the offer is as intended. After that last mistake they made (and the airline with the zero-priced tickets for several hours), 'too good to be true' is a major possibility.

Then it would be a gift of grace. After all, our entire faith is based upon receiving a gift from God.

I am sure Logos' computers know what you did and did not do. And they are free to give or not to give as they see fit.

Of course, one should not receive a gift if it troubles one's conscience. (I did not take the unintended gift of the ICC when it was accidently priced at $00, for example. That was my conscience.) But to me this is not the same thing at all. Logos does not set out to test us. Nor does Logos practice to deceive. And they do frequently practice generosity.

I think everyone's credit balance says $00 after receiving this credit. You get this credit at checkout when you enter 500K in the coupon space. That was my experience.

It is blessed to give, and blessed to receive. And blessed to follow your conscience.
