Hiya Forum Fans! I need a fix and you are the folks to ask!

I have set up my layout based on John Fidel's suggestions (thanks!) but I'm getting unwanted "output".

I had a vision that told me that anyone who uses Reverse Interlinears is doomed to Hell, so I choose to use a real interlinear in my guide. The problem is, every time my guide reopens, I get the following layout:

As the red markings show, the RI insists on coming up. I then have to click the drop menu (in blue) and choose the NA27 w/McR interlinear. This gives me a real interlinear sure enough (albeit with a requirement of an extra click and scroll) but I still end up with a problem.

I also had a vision that anyone who uses the ESV is doomed to Hell, so I choose to use the NASB. The problem is that when I choose to use a real interlinear, the NA27 mysteriously has the ESV as its companion (marked red)--this even though I clearly have the NASB chosen as my prefered Bible (as seen in blue).

So, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is help me to figure out how to get my chosen option of NA27 to REMAIN my chosen option, rather than telling me how to use the software. And once that is taken care of, I need to be able to have my prefered Bible accompany my choice of interlinear, as opposed to the software again insisting to me how it should be used.

That ought to be simple enough for you fellows and fellowettes to handle...I've seen you handle more difficult situations than these. Thanks!

I don't this it's possible with the interface design. But the question is why do you want to select the NA27Int? It's the same Greek text no matter what you select (the NA27)--all you get by selecting a Greek base text is punctuation on the Greek side--plus it's not used as a interlinear here (the non-interlinear NA27 works the same).

(Could you leave the patronising sarcasm at home, too? It makes hard to understand your actual goals.)

I didn't think it was patronizing. I thought it was funny. A little light-heartedness goes over well here.

Although maybe it did slightly blur the goals...

The exegetical guide will use your preferred bible as its English base. At least its supposed to, and always has on mine.

However the whole point of displaying English and Greek text side by side in the exegetical guide is that you can click on either the English or the Greek and the Greek word will be selected. That only works in Reverse Interlinears, because only interlinears know which Greek word goes with which English, and only reverse interlinears can display the English text.

So learn to love reverse interlinears like the rest of us.

Sarcasm doesn't work well in forums without emoticons/smilies, IMO--I can't
tell if it stems from anger or lightheartedness. Plus the unfortunately misspelled
thread title seemed to indicate a little animosity towards the feature.

Somewhere in the back of my mind ... back where things are getting a bit fuzzy with mold ... is some information that the ESV was the first translations tagged for interlinears and that other translations are on their way ... I suspect that poor little NASB is still figetting in line ... solution: "Patience, patience my people" Logos 4:4266

When you use the NASB RI, the Greek text is in the proper Greek word order on the left; not rearranged to match the English Word Order in the Exegetical Guide. You can check this out for yourself by opening the NA27 and comparing the Greek text in the Exegetical Guide to the Greek in the NA27.

Using the NASB RI, you will achieve your desired goal of having the Greek text, and the NASB.

The part about having visions and in-adherents suffering condemnation could be construed as an actual opinion of some on the forum. I've been told almost as much by a couple of posters. I did pick up on the light-heartedness with the Mission Impossible reference. [;)]

I think we're all missing the point. The Exegetical Guide is behaving exactly as intended. If you want to see English text alongisde the Greek, choose any reverse interlinear English version. Simple.

To accomplish what you want is very simple -> make a suggestion SUGG: xxxxxxxxxxxxzzzzzzzzzzz NA27Int (sorry, not GRAMCORD) aaaaaaaccccc NASB95[:D]

Logos does not use GRAMCORD morphology in any L4 product - it is available only to those who had GRAMCORD resources in L3.

BTW - the NASB95 can only be preferred if you draw a blue circle around a Prioritize list with NASB at the top!
