Bug: Mac won't transpose text from a .pptx file - must convert to a .ppt to make it work.

This is the second time this has happened. I have the latest Proclaim installed, and it has happened on the previous two versions. I was hoping it would be just a one time bug.

We have a person on our team that emails me a powerpoint. It works fine in Proclaim on our PC (the one we are replacing), but Proclaim on our Mac (our new computer) won't convert the .pptx file properly. It brings over images but no text. It also automatically creates the bible signals, so it is definitely seeing the text. There just isn't any on the slides. If I open the .pptx in Office for Mac and save as a .ppt, it imports fine.

The "fool proof" way to incorporate Powerpoint/Keynote files into Proclaim is not to do it :-)

The best way I have found is to load the file into Keynote - set keynote up in a second space on the mac ready to run with the first slide.

At the appropriate point in the service simply switch spaces - the visual effect is momentary but now you are running your presentation in a native app and all the bells and whistles are preserved.

When you switch back to Proclaim it should be ready and waiting for you at the point you left it.

I was able to reproduce your issue here in house and I sent a bug report to development. This issue should get fixed soon and will be released with our next patch.

The issue Cody has encountered is with a third-party tool we use for the conversion. We have logged a bug with their software package but until they fix it you will have to convert your pptx to ppt prior to import.

Thank you for the quick response. I figured that you probably had a third party tool because the options are different than on a PC and I know that you can pull from the PC install whereas on a Mac you cannot. I will have them use .ppt and continue to urge them to use Proclaim for their content.

I think the only bump I have found is when you add a picture to a content slide. Unless I am missing it, I don't think you can resize and move that image around. That is why the user that is still using powerpoint wants this to work.
