How does one import (or open) one's Logos3g workspaces into (or from) Logos5 (version 5.1a SR-2)? I am running Windows Vista on one 32-bit machine and Windows XP on another 32-bit machine.

You can't import Libronix workspaces into Logos 5. Now called Layouts you have to create them from scratch - see http://wiki.logos.com/Layouts__

    What you can import are:

    • Favorites

    • Highlighting (was called Visual Markup)

    • Notes document

    • Passage List document (was called Verse Lists)

    • Prayer List document

    • Sentence Diagram document

    • Syntax Search document

    • Word List document (imports Word Lists and Vocabulary Lists)

To import all supported Libronix DLS 3 documents into Logos 5, enter Import All into the Command Box.

Thank you, I guess, for confirming my disappointment-inducing deduction. All that work in Logos version 3.0 which may or may not work properly on a 32-bit machine running Windows Vista or Windows 7 or a 64-bit machine running Windows 7 or Windows 8.

I also have a significant bit of disappointment where the L3 to L4/5 gap is concerned...but I am not deterred. I use L3 daily and only use L5 for specific tasks. Since they can run side-by-side, I often do just that. I would prefer to run a single program, but the two programs do a nice job of filling in gaps the other one has. You shouldn't feel like you HAVE to move everything to L5 if L3 is still useful to you. If I never get something else to do what L3 does for me, then will use L3 until the end.

I used Libronix for a significant number of years but my biggest disappointment is the search capabilities; not having to recreate layouts/workspaces!

I still prefer the Englishman's Concordance searches in L3 to the similar option in L5. So much simpler and I like the presentation better. The thing I like about L5 searches, especially in non-Bible searches, is the ability to see a preview of each hit in a pop-up. That's a nice feature. Of course, I now have a large number of resources in L5 that I don't have in L3, so if I know I want to include those in my searches, I use L5. I still make all of my notes in L3 unless the notes are attached to a resource I don't have in L3.
