BUG in search

If searching in ESV for our father in Matt-John I get 20 hits in 15 verses. If checking "Match all word forms" I get 30 hits in 15 verses and thats OK.

If I search the same phrase but in swedish vår fader I get 31 hits in 15 verses in Bibel 2000. And now the crazy thing. If I check "Match all word forms" I get 12 hits in 6 verses. Checking "Match all word forms" get an exact search result. But unchecked the search will find vår fader and var fader.

This is just en example. This error belongs to our special characters åäö but it's a bit annoying when searching for one word and the result show words you don't search for.

    Hello Ebbe,

It appears that when the Match all word forms is selected, it is treating the query more like a phrase ("vår fader") instead of two individual words (vår fader), except that it counts the words individually, doubling the results. When I search for the phrase "vår fader" I get 6 results in 6 verses in Bibel 2000 (with Match all word forms checked or unchecked). The difference between typing the query as a phrase (with " ") versus two words, is that it will only find instances where the words are used together, which apparently always uses vår, with the special character.

The fact that it may be treating the query like a phrase with Match all word forms selected may be a bug, and I can submit it.  If you don't want the other forms, I recommend adding the quotation marks to search the phrase.

    Hello Melissa,

I think this must be a bug. Same result occurs if a search for vår AND fader or var AND fader. In booth cases I get a "narrower" search with less hits if I selecting Match all word forms. When searching for var AND fader there is no specialcharacters in the searchstring. If Match all word forms was working properly I would get more hits when it's selected.

Could this emerge from how Logos indexer deals with "foreign" languages resources?

This opposite way of working is a step forward. In fact Logos 3 could never deal with this at all.

But I hope there will be a solution to this.

    Ebbe
