Change in poetry formatting

I don't know whether this is a bug or not, but it is annoying. The formatting of poetry changes when the entire passage is indented. I have attached an example. Can anything be done about this?

I take it from the silence that this is not an issue for anyone. I might point out that this issue is not new to 5.1. It seems that it has always been this way.

I don't understand the issue?  Perhaps it has to do with where your Word tabs are set?  If so, that is a Word issue, not governed by the source of the copied text.

Thanks for your response, Mary-Ellen. I don't think the problem is with Word. The reason I say that is I have another Bible Software program, and this problem does not exist with that program. I think it must have to do with how Logos is exporting the Biblical text. The reason I say that is I have Word set for Times New Roman as the default font. If I type some text and then import a Scripture passage from Logos, it brings it in as Times New Roman. If however I import the Biblical text into a blank document it comes in as Calibri. Anyone have any thoughts?

Apparently, neither Ellen nor I understand your issue. Perhaps you can start again?

    1. Please post a screen shot, not a word doc.
    2. Explain the issue clearly, don't just say "look at the screen shot."
    3. Annotate the screen shot if necessary.
    4. Provide specific instructions to reproduce the issue. (i.e. what resource? What reference? What settings? etc.)

Ok, here we go. Export any poetic passage of Scripture to Word. The example used in the screen shot is from Psalm 1. I am using my own defined style, but the same thing happens if you use the "fully formatted" style. High light the entire passage and use the "Increase indent" button to increase the indent one half inch. In the indented form, the verse number is now indented to the right of the line of text below it. That is not the case in the unindented form. I have figured out the Calibri-Times New Roman issue mentioned in my last post.

I'm sorry Randall… I don't know much about Word. I'll need to defer to other forum members. [:S]

Hi Randy, I have tried exactly the steps you described, and it works fine for me in Word 2013. What version of Word are you using?

Note that you can see in your screenshot that some of the lines in the original text are indented using tabs (lines 3 and 5, for example) and others use left margin indent setting (lines 2 and 4, for example). But the Increase Indent button (or Ctrl+M, the keyboard shortcut) deals with all of those lines the same way: it adds an indentation amount to the left margin indent of each paragraph (and each line is its own paragraph, so it will affect each line in exactly the same way). So, for example, line 1 before pressing Increase Indent is at 0" and after, it is at .14"; the left margin of line 2 before is at .44" and after is at .58" which is exactly .14" more than it was before. And so on.

I'm not sure why you are not seeing this same consistency, unless it was something that didn't work very well in an older version of Word which you might be using.

    Hi Rosie,

I'm using Word for Mac 2011. I am at a loss to explain it too. It is not a huge problem, just an annoyance. Thanks for looking into this.

Just out of curiosity, would some one who uses Word for Mac 2011 try the process outlined above to see if you can reproduce my problem? Thank you very much.

I have Word 2013 on Windows.

When I copy/paste a passage using Logos 5 on Windows, I can indent it correctly. When I use your .docx, I cannot indent it.

This may suggest that  it's a Logos for Mac issue (rather than a Word for Mac issue). As Rosie says, it's the tabs that are causing the trouble.
