Why? Always update & restart, update & restart, update & restart...driving me crazy

Logos Bible Software 5 is awesome. However, the continual updates that the requires a restart of the software are frustrating.

Even multiple times a day, the software is requesting a restart. I am not sure how this can be corrected, but something sure needs to change.

At the very least offer options about updates.
Add a setting to only check for updates once a day or once a week at a specified time.
For computers that are always on, an automatic update that runs in the middle of the night.

Those are some ideas. Something within me will not allow me to ignore an update request.

Right now, Logos 5 is like having the world's most awesome sports car, but with a 1 gallon gas tank. Accelerate with great enthusiasm, pull over, fill up and restart. Accelerate with less enthusiasm, pull over, fill up and restart. Accelerate with chagrin, pull over, fill up and restart.... Trade in for a bicycle.

This setting is hidden away in:

Tools/Program Settings/Internet/Automatically Download Updates [click "yes"]/ (then come daily/hourly etc options.

Yes, we need an auto restart option after a successful download. So that we can set off the down load and go to sleep, while logos continues to download and index. This is 2:30am I have to wait for download to complete to click restart. Having to do this for the 3 waves of downloads, once for Mac and once for Windows. Is not very encouraging .

The multiple update cycles in the 25 Sep rollout is extremely inconvenient for users. I stopped counting at 5 update-restart-reindex cycles. Could have been more.

Unless there is some insuperable technical difficulty, it should be rolled out in one batch and the updating confined to one restart cycle.

Otherwise, it is is very badly planned and executed and from the end user's viewpoint: inexcusably stupid.

I am very happy with the updates, which were announced on the forum (by Rick Brannan).

You may choose to not download the new updates and choose a convenient time.

That the updates are not in one batch, it does not bother be at all.

Can Logos consider adding an option to "auto restart" after successful download of Updates.

The scenario I painted earlier where downloading / preparing / indexing (an integral process) is best done at night when we are going to sleep is real. Many busy Pastors, Missionaries, Teachers ... Need their Laptop / Desktop to do their work during the day, generally do not want such activities to interfere them during working hours.

The current option to allow "automatically download updates" to be turn ON / OFF is great, however, it only goes half the way ... when I wake up in the morning, I still have to click "restart" to kick off the painfully longer indexing process. Alternative to it, is wakeup in the middle of the night to click "restart" which was what I did last night at 2:30am in the morning [:(] you can see I do not have enough sleep [;)]

Is there a better way that I am not aware off to do the downloading / preparing / indexing as a night batch job for a user? please educate me. Thanks.

In Logos 5, enter "update now" and let the check for updates run; ...

As soon as the "Logos is downloading" notification appears, close Logos 5.

The Indexer will continue downloading; when it finishes, it will notice that Logos 5 isn't running and will prepare and index your library.

When you start Logos 5 in the morning, everything should be ready to go.
