Could someone help me write a rule for a study on ephesians (commentaries). I have Lloyd-Jones work in this area. I either get too narrow of a search or too broad. This is what I used to include Lloyd-jones but it didn't give me many other commentaries:

The narrow find is this: type:monograph AND (title:ephesians OR subject:ephesians) 14 hits

The broad find is this: type:monograph OR type:"bible commentary" AND (title:ephesians OR subject:ephesians) 1200 hits.

just curious, if you were wanting your ephesians commentaries, did the Passage Guide not suffice?

I wanted to make a collection. I guess I could have done it by Passage guide? Not sure.

Valerie, try adding brackets to your 'broad find', like this:

(type:monograph OR type:"bible commentary") AND (title:ephesians OR subject:ephesians)

Without the brackets, Logos is matching anything that's a monograph at all, or anything that's a commentary on Ephesians. Hence 1200 hits.

It's always wise to use brackets when mixing ANDs and ORs, because (a AND b) OR c is not the same as a AND (b OR c).

You can also use a list inside brackets, like this:

type:(monograph,commentary) AND (subject:Ephesians OR title:Ephesians)
