Do Update In The Background!

Those using iOS7 would notice the huge relief with app updates. Now I have the option to have them automatically happen in the background without me getting notified, involved, or nagged at all.

Logos could consider this approach for the desktop application. Download, install, index... do not bother me, and of course do not disrupt my sermon prep...

Good idea Peter. I too would like to know that if I leave my machine on, the software will automatically update. Those of us with slow machines, will have to set the time when we want to receive downloads. Presently I take them as they come.

Auto-update in iOS7 was the first thing I ensured was turned OFF.

Can't tell you how many times an app developer got sloppy and uploaded an update that had serious bugs. (Kindle and Evernote come to mind.)

While I love the idea of auto-updating, I can't run the risk with apps that I depend on. I've found it wiser to monitor things for a couple of days on those important apps I use before updating.

Having said that, I'm going to be in the process of upgrading my wife's phone and figured I'd update all her apps first... there were 72 apps to update! In her case, auto-updating might not be such a bad idea.

The mobile device apps don't have to index their resources!

It may be possible for the desktop but indexing in the background would require a duplicate index & resource base of several GB and Logos would have to ask when you want your disk space back!

Thanks for the suggestion; this is definitely something we want to improve in a future version of the software. It would be a fairly fundamental change to many components of the system, so I can't promise that it'll happen in the near future.
