When I try to access the upgrade facility I receive the  message below and can get no further (freezes)

I have sent this to Libronix but they never reply.

What's your OS? L2 doesn't work on XP or later. You need Win 95, Win 98, Win 2000...or even Win 3.1!

I think you may be mistaken. L2 does work on newer Windows systems (I have the RC Sproul library, which runs Logos 2.1g, installed on Win 7 = according to logs, Windows NT 6.1.7601), but it seems the OPs 6.2.9200 is Windows 8 - and either that is the issue, or maybe it's a 32/64bit thing.

However, I heard that Win 8 can run programs in XP compatibility mode or even comes with a virtual XP box, maybe that will solve this.

I have windows 8 now. I used L2.0 within XP for years without any problem and it has installed with 8 without any apparent problem except that it will not allow me to access the upgrade facility. Ideally I want my existing software to merge with Logos 5 - not have two separate programs

David, see my reply in your other thread: you can do this with the interim install of L3 (or call customer service to put your licences onto the server manually) To make best use of L5, purchasing a base package (today with special discounts) or the L4/L5 Minimal Crossgrades may be helpful, but the free engine should be able to pick up your old books.

Definetly Libronix Digital System 2. If I can not upgrage successfully to Logos 5 - is there another route? Upgrade to something pre Logos 5, then on to 5 aftertwards?

maybe I made myself not clear enough. Installing Libronix / Logos 3 will be this interim platform to install, see this wiki page: http://wiki.logos.com/Installing_Libronix_Books

Well, that's good news. I bought the same R.C. Sproul library thinking it was Libronix but couldn't get it to load. The box says it runs on the OSs I listed, but if it plays nice with XP too, then I'm a happy camper. My friend has XP on his system, I think. Maybe I can load it onto his system, sync it, then get the files dl'd into L3 and L5.

While I'm on this subject, do you (or anyone else) know if I can get the E4 disc to work on XP? It was L2 or 2.1 also, I believe.

David, afaik, L2 has no sync capability and I couldn't find an import command in L3, thus I de-installed L3, installed the L2 software and installed L3 again which picked up the existing L2 (some old blog posts from the L3 introduction seemed to say so and it really did!). So this should probably work for any L2 disks out there.

Let me just interrupt to explain the source of the confusion, because there's been a misunderstanding of which version of Logos David is using.

He is using what most of us call L3 (aka Libronix Digital Library System). His is using the second main version of L3 (aka Libronix Digital Library System 2.0). This is not what most of us call L2 (which is the Logos Library System).

This means that David should be downloading the latest update to L3, which is Libronix Digitial Library System 3.0g, which can be downloaded from here: https://www.logos.com/support/windows/L3/download

If the update doesn't work (which I think is what David is saying), then he'll need to uninstall LDLS 2, then install LDLS 3 as a new user. The instructions for uninstalling are here: https://www.logos.com/ArticleViewer/316. However, before doing that I'd just try uninstalling and reinstalling the core installer, then trying to update Logos as you did before.

<edit as a PS>In other words there are three main versions of L3: 1.0 (which was just called Logos Bible Software Series X), 2.0, and 3.0. There was also a 2.1, as well, and several minor upgrades noted as lowercase letters (e.g. 2.1d, 3.0g, etc.). Technically, it was the underlying software that was called Libronix Digital Library System, and the packages that were called Logos Bible Software Series X, but those nuances often got blurred.</edit>
