Creatng Collections for a single bible book commentary

I have tried to find a simple way of doing this- but to be honest the way these are tagged is a nightmare you are forced to go book by, or seriess by series or just scroll through your library.

Please fix this so if we want to create a collection say for 1 Peter- we can just type in "1 Peter or First Peter" and get all the commentaries in our library on that particular book.

I agree that the subject tagging leaves a lot to be desired, but a string like type:”bible commentary” AND (title:hebrews OR subject:hebrews) works for most books.

The worst is John's gospel, but even that can be done:

type:commentary AND (title:john OR subject:john)
ANDNOT (subject:”1 John” OR subject:”2 John” OR subject:”3 John” OR
subject:”John, 1st” OR subject:”John, 2nd” OR subject:”John, 3rd” OR
subject:revelation OR subject:”epistles of john”)

I too tried this and it took me about 45 minutes to create a "close enough" string, and then compare the results with what the passage guide spits out to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

There are two ways for future users to accomplish this more easily. 1) Logos to spoon feed us the tagging (my much preferred way), 2) For 5 or more users to tag them the same so that the tags get pushed to everyone. I'm game to tag what I have for 1 Peter as a sample to see if it will work.

I chose to do it the other way around. My epistles string is type:commentary AND (title:john OR subject:john) ANDNOT (subject:revelation) with John's gospel collection excluded. I didn't need individual collections for each of the epistles.

This took 6 minutes to create - 3 of which were spent trying to work out why it wasn't working - I had an 'or' in lowercase! It's for 1 Peter. All Petrine commentaries, apart from those only about 2 Peter:

type:commentary AND (title:peter OR subject:peter) ANDNOT ((subject:"2nd" OR title:"2 Peter") ANDNOT (subject:"1st" OR title:"1 Peter"))

You have to put quotes around strings (multiword search terms).

worked fairly well in "library (14)" but in "collections (23)" it also included the 1 Peter comm's.

But still did not bring up all my comm's.

this gives me all my comm's on 1/2 Peter- which is fine I can use the comm's in a collection this way.

This should work for 1 & 2 Peter, but

type:commentary AND (title:peter OR subject:peter) ANDNOT
((subject:"2nd" OR title:"2 Peter") ANDNOT (subject:"1st" OR title:"1
Peter"))

excludes commentaries on 2 Peter if you need it. It includes everything apart from Horae Homileticae, which has very poor metadata, and doesn't include anything it shouldn't.
