Bug: Now Logos is numbered amongst Nehemiah's Adversaries!

From the home screen

Type 'Nehemiah 1' in the 'Go' box and get the following result...

Notice that both the bible and study bible open to about Nehemiah 1 v 11 not 1 v 1 as I would expect.

Scroll up to the top of the book...

Now clicking in the bible text produces a non-responding application crash.

This happens in both the Stable Edition running on a MacBook Air and in the latest Beta Version running on an iMac.

Otherwise the application seems to be running ok? Including accessing Nehemiah via Layouts.

Logging4MacLogging only gives me a "Error: Invalid Logos 4 Mac working directory" so logs not available but many reports have been sent automatically.

Thanks for the suggestion alabama, I wondered about that - but a corrupt index on two machines running different versions of the program.

Thanks also to those who tried to replicate my experience - I note, however that the Commentary in the bottom pane is not the same.

It might be that you need to change that pane to feel my pain.

Probably. The point simply seems to be that you choose ESV Study Bible as your most preferred commentary and its first comment on Nehemiah is in verse 11. Thus when you have ESV SB in your linked set, it "drags" all linked resources to verse 11.

That is the reason for going to v11.

But I cannot reproduce the crash in the ESV.

EDIT: but I was wrong regarding ESV SB and Nehemiah. It has notes on earlier verses than 11, the point is that the position bible-indexed to 1:11 is in the article on "History of Salvation in the OT" rather than the bible study notes themselves. Maybe ESV SB opens there becaus it was last opened to this article rather than the running notes.

It is the indexing & the search resolution. Type Neh 1 into the resource Find box and you get a choice of Neh 1 or Neh 1:11. Both are acceptable for the type of search the PG uses with Neh 1, and I suspect verses are preferred.

The behaviour was exactly the same for a PB where I added milestones similar to ESV SB in Neh.

Well Alabama, I bit the bullet and did

1. A re-install of the application.

2. A 'rebuild index' command.

Now the crash is not so instantaneous and I was able to capture the following screen shot...

Which shows that the information window is having difficulty.

For those trying to replicate that crash - please note that it is necessary to start from the Home Page and type Nehemiah 1 into the 'Go' box.

Other methods of accessing this book seem to be without problem.

This may be unrelated... but ...

I used to have occasional crashes that I managed to avoid by closing the Information window. It was a memory problem because after I increased the memory of my Mac to 16Gb the problem went away...

Just curious, How much RAM are you running on?

I am running with 4Gb on the iMac with the Beta

I am running with 8Gb on the Air with the stable version

Both crash at the same point.

I have now managed to harvest a set of Logs for this problem. Admittedly these logs are for the Beta version but seeing as the crash is happening in both the stable and beta iterations they might still be useful.
