Layouts not saving

For some weird and wonderful reason, I notice that my Layouts are not saving, in fact, they really never have.
I can hit the Active update or update the current snapshot and when closed down and booted up again, it's never in the correct place. Any ideas as to which route I should take to fix this?

LAYOUT is what I saved ... LAYOUT 2 is what I get after I closed down and pulled it up again...

...seems to me that you are asking it to save to : "Col 2" --- which is what it's doing, I think??? eh???

Blessings! The "name" of your active layout is at the top of the layout, BTW -- Col 2 (so it seems to me?)

I think the issue is related to link sets. In your second screen shot, the KJV returns to Colossians 2 (rather than 2:10) because you have resources set in the same link set to Colossians 2. In other words, it's doing what you told it to, you just didn't know you told it to do so. [;)]

Like Naaman, "I thought" ... when it says "update to current snapshot" ... that it would do just that, save the picture of what was presently on my Logos screen! Why then does it not do that?

It does... sort of. If you turned off the link sets, I believe you will see the functionality you were looking for. You could also be more specific in your link set... If you were to change the range to chapter AND verse, I think you would see what you wanted. In my opinion, however, the entire thing needs to be reworked. Nobody, not even Logos, really understands how it works. I may create a new thread with my ideas later... but now it is time to make dinner before my wife comes home and the boys go to church. [:)]

And let me try this again for the first time ... saving it to Col 2:13 doesn't do the trick. Deleting the saved name and making a new one, with everything opened to Col 2:13 and saving it as Col 2:13 still does not do the trick. It saves alright, but back to Col 2:1

That could be connected with the two KJV panels/tabs you have as preferences are saved for only one version.

Yes. Between saving the layout and closing Logos you could have made many changes, which are saved as "Application Closed" when you exit Logos. When you restart with an option like Most recent layout - any (or local) Logos loads the most recent "Application Closed" layout. If you want Logos to load a specific layout change the Startup setting accordingly.

Gentlemen, this is not about completely shutting Logos down. Let's say I've got Logos up and running and open up the Colossian Layout. It opens to Col 2:1.

Let's say I close that particular Layout and only the Logos screen is now showing. When I go back into Layouts, and click on Col 2 (or Col 2:13) it will not save but to Col 2:1.

So I'm not getting Logos to boot to a Layout, but to open to a Layout when I have Logos up and running.

The rest of what you to gents are writing, is not coming across as that clear. If you've something else up your sleeve(s) please advise. Thanks! :-)

I noticed that you use both link sets A and B. It could be that one of your resources is linked to another resource with a heading of Col 2. For example the "Bootjack Commentary" may have an entry on each chapter of the bible. If your preferred bible is linked to the Bootjack Commentary, when you re-open a layout it will go to the paragraph heading that contains the verse that you search and may open other Bibles to the verse that begins with that paragraph heading.

in other words - If "Bootjack Commentary" has an entry on Col. 2:13 within the article of Colossians 2. it will sync linksets to the beginning verse (1) of the Colossians 2 Commentary and open bibles to that same verse.

Dear Brother Bootjack! In your original post you mentioned "closed down" and "booted up again" .... I took you literally... i.e. that you "re-booted" Logos ... I responded to your posts thinking that was the case ... so ..... *smile*

Milford, anytime you wish, you barrel right into this conversation. Dave, your formula apparently was the trick. I made ever reference that was visible to Col 2:16 / updated the snapshot / closed and reopened (not booted up Milford) and it was indeed saved to Col 2:16. Thank you a whole bunch!!! :-)
