Why didn't Dynamic Pricing work?

Earlier this week I checked out my cost to upgrade to Portfolio and printed out the cost and number of resources I would gain. Today, after purchasing An Introduction to Biblical Hebrew Syntax by Walke, I checked and the number of new resources decreased by one, but the cost didn't change at all. How can this be with Dynamic Pricing?

I don't know. The Reverse Interlinears are not counted as individual resources by the Logos program. Could that be where the count is off?

The count changed after I purchased Walke's book.

It went from 192 resources "new to me" to 191. This would be correct because Walke's book is included in the Portfolio package and since I purchased it separately it would no longer be a "new to me" resource. Yet my cost for the Portfolio package remained the same. I wonder if the publisher does not allow it to be included in dynamic pricing?

Btw, I hope you didn't expect the discount would be the same as you payed. It will only be $1-5 or so.

It was before the "best prices ever" went away, because I was curious to see how much the price would go up after Monday.

As much as I would like the dynamic pricing decrease to be equal to what I paid, I don't expect that happen.

This isn't a major issue for me - more of a curiosity.

I agree that dynamic pricing is borked.

I talked to the sales people about upgrading to portfolio and for the literally hundreds of books that I already own that are included in the portfolio series, they were going to give me what amounted to a discount of around $125. The sales person couldn't see why I had a problem with that.

I won't be upgrading... ever.

Before you swear off logos entirely, in order to see the non-dynamic price, click on the sign out link at the top of the forum, and browse over to the prices they are asking of people who have no other resources. I've taken the liberty of doing the same as I suggested, to demonstrate that dynamic pricing is indeed working - at least for me.

This picture above shows the price of the Diamond base package without dynamic pricing.

The picture below shows the price of the diamond package with dynamic pricing.

Phone sales was able to bring the diamond upgrade price down to 1030$ or about 150$ off the web store price (which is indeed giving me a significant discount based upon the products I own already).

Bearing in mind I have 4000 resources or so. Which means your mileage may vary depending upon the scope of your library. The fewer new titles you are purchasing from a given base package, the lower the cost (as you well know).

This way you are only purchasing the titles that are new to you.
