Welcome to the forum!
My opinion:
1. It's faster
2. The User Interface has improved
3. Better integration of visuals and media
4.There are new tools and the tools in general are more customisable
5. The upgrades are good value (but there's even a minimal crossgrade which you can purchase)
6. Your licenses, resources and notes, etc. are "synced in the cloud" - meaning less work in maintaining licenses and media. You can also use your resources across multiple platforms (windows, mac, osx)
If you are in doubt, try it for 30 days as I think Logos has a return policy if you are not fully satisfied. It has taken a bit of an adjustment, but once I got into it, I have not loaded Logos 3 since. Another good thing is that you can continue to use Logos 3 alongside Logos 4, so if Logos 4 doesn't meet all your needs, you can always load up Logos 3 to get it done.

I did it for the great buy on the resources alone, I ended up with nearly 400 additional resources for only about 440 dollars more and just a couple sets of the commentaries i got, equaled the cost of upgrading.
I had spent around 500 dollars learning how to effectively use Libronix 3, and when I got Logos 4, I hated it! It upset me that certain features were missing and that I did not understand how to use the features that were there.
Now after a little more than a month and a half, I am so glad I changed over, the new system is going to be much better in the long run and by the time it is all complete I will already know how to use it effectively and I also have the use of all those new resources in my Libronix 3 system right now! I have lost nothing, I have gained resources and the I have the ability to learn the new system without the pressure of needing to give up Libronix 3.
Check out all the different sources videos and written, and you will learn this system much quicker than Libronix 3 and I believe it will take you much deeper into the scriptures meaning in a lot less time!
The new manuals although too expensive are worth many time more to me because they quickly helped me to see the new ways of doing old things that are at the heart of how I study the scriptures and they also showed me how Logos 4 can already do things that Libronix 3 does not do.
The online free videos by users showing work flow patterns are extremely valuable in starting to see that many of the features that at first I thought were missing are already in the program, but simply done differently now.
One of the things I like best about the new program is that it is going to be much easier to teach others how to use the system!!! This is a very important point to me, since I teach others how to use bible software to effectively study the scriptures!
I would remind you, the system is still not complete and if that will bother you forget it, wait until latter, but you may miss out on the great new resources that you could be using right now in Libronix 3 at some of the best buys I have ever seen from Logos!

That's a wonderful testimony of a L3 --> L4 "conversion experience," Jim. So many people have gone through precisely what you have, but you put it better than anyone else I've ever seen. I wish all the users who are on the fence or fearful of upgrading to L4 or disillusioned with it already on Day 2 could read what you've written. It is a great piece of software and will keep getting better.

I bought the upgrade but was reluctant to use it because it meant, as I thought, abandoning my work methods. I feared the learning curve would be too great.
Well recently I got a new computer and had to migrate everything to a 64-bit machine and there were some quirks in my re-installed Logos 3. So I said, Why not give it a shot.
To my surprise I found it much easier to adapt to the new version 4 than I imagined. In a day or so I had re-configured a reasonable version of my old homily preparation work space, grouping into separate windows Bible texts and lectionary, commentaries, notes (which imported flawlessly), and Greek language tools (dictionaries, morphologies) PLUS took advantage of the new passage and exegetical guides.
Best of all, Logos 4 is so much faster. Everything is easier. I have the security of doing my old methodology while continuing to explore all that's new in Logos 4.

Honestly the only reason I can think of not updating to Logos 4 is if you have an older computer and therefore would find Logos 4 to run very slowly. If your computer is no more than about 2 years old, has at least 4 GB of RAM and is running Windows 7 (or is a newer Mac), then you will enjoy all the new features of Logos 4. It takes a while to get the hang of as it is not like Logos Series X and Libronix, but you can run Libronix along with it until you are fully comfortable in Logos 4.

This is my situation on my laptop - it is too old to run L4 - therefore I have L3 and my desktop has L4. But I am faithfully setting $20 a month to upgrade. It will take a while but I already have $300 so I'm getting closer. It' is just hard to go back to L3 after using L4.

Well, after two years of Logos4, I remain 'the contrarian' and chances are, will remain so.
My computing vision for the future remains as moving smaller. lighter, and longer (battery).
In today's environment, I suppose that would mean an iPad or similar. But believe it or not, and 'just recently', they now offer the touchscreen attached to a full-size keyboard! Holds the screen vertically for easy-reading. Operates for about 6-7 hours. Not a whole lot larger than my Bible. And (this is so hard to believe), it happily runs Windows7.
Plus it's powerful enough to run my music software running a polyphonic Moog V through my Yamaha keyboard. Are we all in dreamland??
Yes, as you're probably guessing, I'm using my netbook.
It's just that with Logos4, it's slow. But Libronix3 is the whiz-kid. And so (thanks of course to those smart kids at Logos.Inc), I use Libronix3 for reading, highlighting, notes, and so forth, and Logos4 for heavy-duty, slow-as-molassas research.
Plus ... knock on wood ... Libronix3, along with my licenses backed up, installs without internet support. Happy camper, me!
