When I attempt to scroll through the biblical text, there is significant latency. So much so that the rotating circle appears and I get the "not responding" message in the title bar.

Are you on a Mac? I get this same issue on my iMac but not on my PC laptop.
Hopefully one of the Mac gurus can tell us both. Many of them are in church right now so it may take a couple hours to get an informed response.

Is Text Comparison linked to your bible? If so take the "link to" option off the Text Comparison panel, and performance when scrolling will likely improve.
