Lexham English Bible - Majority Text edition?

I am not a fan of the NKJV, but I would still like to own a modern translation of an updated Majority Text. However, trying to find one is, well, practically impossible. Actually, I am unaware of any. Maybe this would be a good project for Logos? I can picture it now - the LEB-MT (Lexham English Bible - Majority Text edition). Yes

Josh, we do have the EOB:NT, which is based on the Byzantine Text (the Patriarchal Greek NT), which should be available for download soon. It footnotes variations between the different text families, as well.

Thanks for the heads up. I wonder what the differences would be between the 1904 Patriarchal Greek NT text and the newer 2005 Pierpont/Robinson Greek text? I would really prefer to have the most up-to-date majority text underlining my English translation, but this one looks decent.

The PATr is probably closest to Scrivener's Textus Receptus, but there are still hundreds of variants between the two. Being "up-to-date" is not something the PATr or Byzantine Text tradition are aiming to be. [;)]

In my understanding, the 1904/1912 PATr is largely based upon a single NT miniscule from Mount Athos at around the turn of the last millennium, and a text that itself was used as a lectionary in worship services. It's an extant text that was used in the Church and passed down through the centuries, not a critical text w/ extensive variants or apparatus.

It actually looks like several texts were considered. Also...

"The text [Patriarchal Greek NT] here prepared differs from Textus Receptus in about 2000 readings, 1400 passages — 150 in Matthew, 175 in Mark, 260 in Luke, 100 in John, 125 in the Acts, 165 in the Epistles of Paul, 65 in the Catholic Epistles and the rest in the Revelation."

What is interesting is that this text also keeps the Johannine Comma! [:S]

"As regards the first epistle of John (5.7-8) about the three witnesses. This passage is missing from all ecclesiastical texts, all the texts of the Fathers and teachers of the Orthodox Church, from the ancient translations, from all known Greek manuscripts written independently of the addition that was introduced in the Vulgate. However, the current edition keeps this text following the opinion of the Holy Synod of the Great Church."

The NKJV clearly kept close watch on the KJV as it tried to be modern.As much as I love the KJV, I think the Majority Text could stand a straight literal translation.

The biggest problem for translators is trying to please readers before trying to please the authors' intent.

Mmmm ... getting better all the time. My favorite author of all time spent much time at Mount Athos digging through the mss's. What the Sea of Galilee was.
