Maybe a good idea...

I would like to make a suggestion for a good idea however i am not sure how good it is since I am new to Logos 4 and the forums but here it goes...

I recently purchased a lexicon only to find out i all ready had it. i understand this is my fault but since Logos knows what I am license to have why can't a simple check be done before charging my CC. This simple check will protect me and others like me from duplicating books I already own.

Good idea Keith. I don't know if Customer Service can help you but I would at least ask them if I could return that license for credit towards something else. I've never returned anything so I don't know the logistics. Still it is worth a try.

Yes, that's a great suggestion! I've come close to doing that myself, and I do it with print-based books all the time, in spite of the fact that I now keep an Excel spreadsheet with a list of all the books I own so I can search to see if I have something already before buying it. Sometimes I'm just too impulsive when I'm in a bookstore! And I don't wait to check my booklist when I get home.

A related thing that would be helpful is if you've already got another item in your pre-pub cart that includes the title you're trying to buy (for example, I've ordered the whole Zondervan Bible Reference Bundle on pre-pub but I accidentally also bought the pre-pub of the Expositor's Bible Commentary, forgetting that it was included in that Zondervan bundle already. Logos should be able to figure this out and warn me of what I'm about to do. Fortunately, with the pre-pub cart, there was no harm done, because you can go in and delete stuff before it ships and you don't ever get charged for it.

Logos has a very generous return policy (30-day money back) so I bet they'd credit your credit card for the purchase price if you explain the situation. Just my paranoid self perking up here, though: make sure they don't accidentally remove your license for that product when you do this return of the redundant copy of it.

I did the mistake a few years ago and bought the same item twice. I called the CS and asked them to change it for some other item and they did. Of course, I would feel embarrassed to do thing like that a second time (I was even the first time [:)]), but they were very nice to me.

I've done this exact same thing before. Now I am pretty ruthless in checking my library over and over before I place an order. It wouldn't be hard though at the final POS for the system to check your database of licenses to warn you that you already own it though.

I do agree, good idea. Recently i purchase the Charles Dickens Special only to find out i already owned one. The price i paid for it (a give away price) meant it was not worth asking for a refund. Now i check my library carefully before placing an order.

I've done this before as well, and ended up with two copies of E J Young on Isaiah. CS gave me a credit back to my account.

I think it's much less likely to happen in Logos 4. My problem was that I'd missed a disk when installing Logos 3, so the resource was actually missing from my PC.

I did the same thing a couple months ago. I contacted customer support and they gave me a credit to my account to use on my next purchase.

Me, too... <sigh>

Although in L1-L3 I've been enough of a power user that I never used the home page, I'm finding that L4's home page is helping me to find & explore some of those resources.
