Questioning upgrade to VMware 3 and/or Windows 7

Ok, first, here is my configuration...

Machine:  early 2009 MB Pro, OS Snow Leopard 10.6.2

RAM:  8GB

Hard drive space:  plenty

Currently running Logos 4 via VMware 2 via Windows XP SP3

Allocated 1.5GB and 100GB to VMWare virtual machine

Let me know if you need more details.

My question is whether I should upgrade to VMware 3 and/or Windows 7.  I have plenty of machine to handle it.

 

Why?  Logos 4 currently runs pretty good, but there is a tad bit of sluggishness in the searches and other things that perhaps could be eliminated with upgraded software as aforementioned.  I will be using this program more and more as I am beginning seminary studies in 2 weeks, so I would like to be ready with the best configuration I can in terms of quick operation.

I have Windows XP Pro running under fusion. When I upgraded Fusion from version 2 to 3, I saw a speed increase. Keep in mind though, you have to create a new virtual machine with version 3.0 to get the speed benefit. Version 3.0 will still be able to read your old version 2.0 machine, but you don't get the speed efficiency until you create a new machine with version 3.0.

I did a blog on Fusion 3 settings if you want to have a play. Looking at the specs on your machine, I would definitely try increasing the amount of RAM that you give to your VM. You could easily give 3gb.
