Sub Forums?

Just a quick thought:

The forum is just beginning, and there are a large number of threads.  It might make sense to make a couple of defined sub-fora (Installation issues, Error Messages, etc) to allow for easier searching and finding of threads.  That would avoid a huge duplication of threads (like seen in the GetSatisfaction forums, or in the DropBox forums) where everyone complains about the 15th version of the same question.

It would also allow for multiple threads where the issue is not exactly the same, avoiding searching for an issue like mine and finding it is buried in a 158 post thread.

on a somewhat similar note, I don't normally use these forums... I have set each thread to send to my email... however, that also means that I have to recognize all of the new threads... there must be a master switch that can be set to send out a copy of the message no matter which thread it is from and or if it is even from a new thread.  Bob and the logos team surely can not be looking at each thread individually to answer these questions... any help?  Thanks in advance for the replys!

Somewhere ... Logos answered that searching excluded this forum to avoid revealing its presence!  But we desperately need the ability to search this privileged forum as well as other individual forums. Sub-fora will be essential if we are not allowed to search this forum.

A private newsgroup would solve all of these problems and more.....

A spade is a spade.....no matter which way you look at it... and newsgroups are a much better option... that said can these forums be setup to filter so that only threads in which the active user has repsonded be shown, this would make it much easier to follow up on a post that one has made, even better if that could then be combined with a time base filter so that if you know the post you are looking for was made in the last 24 hours you could narrow it down even further.

Sorry, Andrew, I can think of at least a dozen ways in which newsgroups are not better.  I am so glad Logos does not use those anymore.

(It also says something, I think, that no other major software uses newsgroups anymore, at least since the 1990s).

Fred ..... I really wasn't looking for a debate on the topic, I was just making an off the cuff comment.  Apolgoies for doing so. Lets get back to the beta as our focus.
