Hi,

I am trying to create the visual filter and I have been unsuccessful. I am not sure if it's a logos issue or user error. Please see the attached screenshot. I deleted the visual filter and recreated it several times and it will not highlight all the nouns in the hebrew bible that have a definite article in orange. Can anyone assist me? Thanks!

  • Welcome [:D]

After Logos 5 shipped, the O.T. reverse interlinear for English Bibles was changed to Logos Hebrew Morphology.

    Hi,

Thanks, I tried your example and it worked. Where did you get or how  "lemma:הַ BEFORE 0-2 CHARS . . ."? Can you explain this so I have a better understanding of why this works and my command doesn't? I had Andersen-Forbes Hebrew Morphology selected and I typed in @NC and selected Definited with הַ and received no results. The command that I typed in actually worked for Dr. Mike Heiser in his Nouns and Definiteness video that's found in the Learn to Use Hebrew training. If you have the training you'll see what I am referring to at 18-20 mintue mark of the video.

  • Thread => Anderson - Forbes Morphology includes:

The Andersen-Forbes morphology is still available in the AFAT resource, but it isn't in the reverse interlinears anymore.

We are re-shooting the Learn to Use videos for Logos 5 with the LHB.

Thankful can use Andersen-Forbes Hebrew Morphology in AFAT for comparison with Logos Hebrew Morphology in Reverse Interlinear:

Thread => Direct Nouns VIsual Filter includes definite insights.  Lemma:הַ is the definite article, which can be prefixed to a word. Direct objects can be preceded by אֶת that has lemma:הַ tagging so lemma:הַ BEFORE 0-2 CHARS @NC finds both.

Thread => Hebrew Visual Filters Not Working started on 5 Nov 2012 after Logos published OT Reverse Interlinear morphological tagging.

Thanks! I noticed that you asked for an update on the re-shooting of the Learn to Use Hebrew videos in the Anderson - Forbes Morphology thread. I am now following that thread too. I greatly appreciate that you're inquiring about this for the rest of us who are struggling with the current videos. It is very disappointing that Logos makes it difficult to follow the instructor by deciding to make the Andersen-Forbes Hebrew Morphology an unsupported morphology in Logos 5. I hope Logos offers those of us who own the current video's some sort of discount since we invested lost of money for a series of video trainings that leaves us hanging dry 4 hours into it.

During a discussion with a LOGOS rep at the Evangelical Theological Society (ETS) annual meeting, I asked the question and he stated that those that had purchased the original videos would receive a discount. How much was not mentioned!

I'm not sure about this as 0-2 will capture an unrelated Common noun in the following (compound) Hebrew word e.g. second last word in Gen 1:4. The direct object marker has a distinct lemma and may occur as a separate word (Gen 1:1) or joined (Gen 1:30), but is unrelated to finding a noun with the definite article where the correct query is lemma:הַ BEFORE 0 CHARS @NC
