I am a long-time user of Logos V.3. It has helped me a great deal in learning God's words. I was exicted when the new version was released. Then I discovered the requirements for running version 4. (
http://www.logos.com/support/techfaq) It is, in my opinion, unreasonable to expect your clients to go out and update their machines to such a level to run the new version. I have been in the IT field for over 30 years and have never seen such a drastic changes in system requirements from one version to another version, except perhaps from Windows XP to Windows Vista. We all know the results of Vista.
However, I decided that it is about time for me to upgrade my labtop to the recommended configuration. Then I read the following post "Ideal Computer Configuration to use Logos V4 Platinum" (
http://community.logos.com/forums/p/4996/39193.aspx), where someone mentioned that a Logos techie posted the optimal configurations to run Logos 4
Optimal configuration
For best results . . .
Core i7 920 or higher
6GB or more of DDR3 Tri-channel RAM
Windows 7 Home Premium or Higher
DVD-ROM
1680x1050 or higher (i.e., 1920x1200 or 2560x1600)
GeForce GTX 275 or Radeon HD 4890 or higher with 896MB or more of RAM and DirectX 10
Intel X25 SSD; 40GB of free space
Broadband Internet connection
I am totally blown away by this configuration. None of our desktops or labtops in our company even approaches this configuration and our company business are writing software for companies.. When I shows my coworkers this optimal configuration, they were stunned that the software is so far ahead of the average current hardware on the market.
So, my real question are the following:
With the recommended configuration on a labtop (Levono W500), is the performance of Logos 4 acceptable to an average user?
What is the perfromance difference between one machine with the recommendaed configuration and another machine with the optimal configuration?
Thank you very much for your time.
