Updated to Win 8.1 - Everything Works

I upgraded from W8 to 8.1.

L5 came up 1st time.

Had to reinstall drivers for:
- printers,
- USB 3.0 port replicators, &
- graphics card (which HP delivered ON TOP of Intel on-board graphics chip, giving the rational that everything is compatible with Intel chip whereas not everything is compatible with the NVidia GeForce 635M graphics card, no option to dispense with Intel on-board graphics chip; if Microsoft install / upgrade s/w counts, guess they were right).

No other problems.

Can't speak for normal... don't know that I've ever had that experience on an upgrade. ;-)

The printers were still there. They just didn't work. (If I had to speculate, I'd guess that 8.1 attached them with a new ip address & I probably could've edited that & got them working again. What I did do was just as easy & didn't involve hunting for those settings in 8/8.1 .). I didn't completely uninstall the printers; rather, I deleted each of the 2 printers & faxes in the device list & used the ALREADY INSTALLED s/w to add the devices back. I was irritated that I had to do it, but it was actually pretty painless.

In all, this was one of the LEAST painful Windows upgrades I've experienced.

Bill, you lost me. You say you deleted each of the 2 printers etc and (then) used the "already installed" ... if you deleted them, how were they still installed? Where have I flipped off the rails in misunderstanding you on this one? :-)

Whatever, Windows 8.1 will automatically pick up printers etc anyway, correct?
