Powerpoint will not work either!

I tried to add a PP slide show this past weekend that just had words on it. Proclaim would not take it!

Why is this?

it was saved as a .ppx or something like this.

not saved as ppt but with an x at the end. Does proclaim not read this or does it need to be saved as a true pp and not just a show?

Both pptx and ppt not importing text at all in latest Proclaim with either Win7 or OSX. I ended up exporting as jpg and importing those.

Strange

I've just tried importing a ppt file on Windows 8.1 and it works fine.

Some questions:

What do you see when you attempt the import?
Which options are you going with?

syncing with the Internet or just loading locally
converting to images or giving control to PPT

do you have any log files generated when you tried to do the import? If so, please upload to this thread using the paperclip icon

There are some known issues with powerpoint and Proclaim (A third party software we use for importing powerpoints on OS X causes a few of these) and I will be making a forum post addressing these issues shortly. However, I cannot reproduce issues with importing powerpoints on Windows 7. The powerpoints import with all text on my machine (whether it is .ppt or .pptx).

Some questions:

What do you see when you attempt the import?

Which options are you going with?

syncing with the Internet or just loading locally

converting to images or giving control to PPT

do you have any log files generated when you tried to do the import? If so, please upload to this thread using the paperclip icon

Answering these question that Graham provided will help me reproduce the issue.

Heya Graham and Spencer, here are some of the details you are after

Easiest way to explain what we see is through screenshots, so the white background slides are from the imported PPTX and should have black text on the white background, while the grey background slides with text are the exported images after i formatted it in powerpoint.

The powerpoint is synced to the group, rather than local, as this allows those of us leading to setup the services from home, before the Sunday.

Running 1.12.0.0197, PowerpointExporter.log reports all is well, and log is attached.

Hope this helps with the debugging.

I should also say that I tried importing it using a Win7 machine, but got the same results. This debugging though is from my Mac, which is my primary machine.

Hello Chris,

So the text not showing up when importing a .pptx file on the Mac is a known issue. This is a bug within the third party software we use on the Mac platform to import powerpoint presentations. Because of this, there will not be a fix for this known issue until the third party software developer fixes the bug. As for importing .pptx on Windows files, please either attach the .pptx file to your reply or email me the powerpoint. This way I can test what is going on. Thank you for your patience.

All good. To be honest the PPT stuff isnt a major issue for us as we rarely have PPT imports. I only noticed it this Sunday as we had a guest preacher for Reformation Sunday, and then noticed this thread and figured i could contribute some debugging stuff.

Okay so I was able to successfully import your presentation with all the font in tact. What this leads me to believe is that something on your machine might be causing the text to not show up. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Proclaim? It might install a corrupted or missing file that is causing your problem. If you still have problems after a fresh install please let me know.
