First Time Indexing, Twice Now

My first-time-only indexing is underway for the second time. Is this a known issue, or did I do something wrong?

Once my indexing finished, it said that I can add new products after restarting. I did purchase a supplementary bundle to Verbum Master, so maybe this is the reason.

Am I merely hallucinating? Is that it?

I'm not sure exactly what you are talking about by "second time." Logos will need to index anytime anything is added to your library. This will happen when you purchase new resources (via Logos or Vyrso). It will also happen when resources are updated. NOTE: the subsequent indexings will be relatively short compared to the initial one depending upon the size of the update.

Good morning, Alabama24.

I would not have made a distinction between 1st time and 2nd time either until recently. Logos 5 used to indicate it was indexing with a little icon down on the Windows Task Bar. Then for a few weeks, it indicated it was indexing with a banner below the menu bar on Logos 5. Within the last couple of weeks, I installed L5 on a fast computer with an SSD. On my previous installation like this, L5 indexed for a few hours and was done. But this time it will not stop indexing. The flash below my menu bar would climb to indicate 6% indexed and advance no further after days of indexing. I would give a "rebuild index" command and it would start again and climb to 6% and advance no further. Now I came to my PC this morning to find a little flash in the left sidebar below the "Enter passage or topic" that reads "First-time indexing underway."

And lest you are tempted to think I am new to Logos because I have a perplexing issue, today I am wearing the tie I got with one of my early snail-mail bundles of Logos software about 15 or more years ago.

Running Win 8.1 Pro on a Core I5 PC with SSD and 4 GB RAM.

I had 8 GB but one of the memory sticks failed and crashed the PC right after my first load of Logos 5. Pulled out the bad memory stick and reverted back to previous date, before Logos 5 was installed. Reinstalled Logos 5 and it recognized resources already downloaded and on SSD. And that is when the endless indexing began.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks for jumping in on this, Dave. I'm hoping this snapshot with Logos 5 grinding along at 6% for the last several hours will be sufficient for you to point me in a the right direction to resolve it. One thing I am contemplating is totally wiping Logos 5 off my PC, to include all the resources. Then I could reinstall and redownload everything make everything new, so to speak -- in the words of our Master.

Note that I also took a screen shot showing the "First-time indexing underway" and the ...6%.

The most likely explanation is that the indexer has actually crashed (and so the progress is frozen).

Unfortunately, I've never seen the errors from your original log before, so I don't have any good suggestions for resolving them. It sounds like you've had bad memory in this computer before; I would strongly recommend running an overnight memory check (e.g., http://www.memtest.org/) to make sure there aren't any remaining problems in your system. (Also, please ensure that none of the components in your system are overclocked, as that can lead to instability.)

Thanks to all for looking at this with me. The complete wiping of logos 5 from my PC, reinstall, and re-download did the trick. I did this Saturday afternoon and it just finished indexing.
