Android Suite 4.0.5 Beta Release

The Android team is pleased to announce the 4.0.5 beta release of the Bible, Biblia, FSB, Verbum and Vyrso apps.

If you have not yet signed up for the beta (or if you have not yet switched to downloading the betas via the Google Play store), we encourage you to do so! Instructions are here: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/59519.aspx

If you are already signed up for the beta via Google Play, you will automatically receive the beta update over the next few hours. If your device does not provide access to the Google Play store (e.g. the Kindle Fire), you may manually download the latest APK using the direct download links at the bottom of this page: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/59519.aspx

Thanks for fixing the passage guide,timing out error message.

I really like the addition of the verse of the day on the home page.

What happened to the check box, showing what reading plan for the day has been completd? In its placeis the percentage of the plan completed. That is a nice touch. The reason I ask this is because I switch back and forth from IPhone to first generation Kindle Fire.

The checkboxes are being phased out, since you can now see which readings have been completed by opening the document for that reading plan. There are a few more improvements being planned for both reading plans and daily devotionals on the home page which we think will make the home page a lot more useful.

If I understand this correctly it sounds like a strange decision to me.

The checkbox allows a simple visual indication of whether the reading plan for the day has been completed. Having to go to the documents menu, search for the correct document, open it and check the status seems like a lot of extra work for what was previously a simple visual check.

Am I missing something?

This is good feedback Graham. I think the reason for moving away from the checkboxes (keep in mind, this is speculation on my part for now) is because you're unlikely to use the checkbox to mark a reading as completed (it's more common to do this either from the "Done" link in the reading view or from the reading plan document). The desire to see whether a home page reading plan item has been completed yet or not makes sense though. I'll inquire with Dave and the designers about adding some sort of visual indicator for whether a reading plan item has been read or not.

Are there plans to unify the libraries? I own Logos but I don't have a PC I can take to Church any longer. My church does not have an internet connection available. That means I have to carry all the books I want to use on my tablet. Because I often switch between references (for instance, NET bible, interlinear Greek-english, Louw-Nida, Faithlife app, etc) I often run four Logos apps simultaneously. Where I might need to have a book available in more than one app (to be able to use other books only available in that app) I carry multiple copies of each book... my 32gig internal drive is stuffed!

It would be good also for Faithlife, specifically, since the only Bible I can actually download in that app is the Lexham, which, while it is a fine bible, is not my preferred version, and for Faithlife, where, again, I can not have the NET bible at all.

Also, are there plans to make any of the Hebrew interlinear facilities in the English bibles work? I don't own a specific Hebrew-English interlinear in my collection and don't even know if any of the ones I could supplement with work with the apps. (I'm in an Android tablet, ASUS Transformer Infinity, which is currently still living in 4.2 land.)

I haven't heard of any plans to do this and I would be very surprised if this happens. It wouldn't be possible (due to Apple constraints) on the iOS platform and while (I believe) the Android environment is less "tied down" I would be very surprised if the mobile teams end up with a different architectural approach to this issue - but they are the only ones who can say definitively.

Can you provide a bit more information about this? I have the NRSV downloaded into the Faithlife app on my phone and - to test this - have just successfully downloaded an NIV version as well.

I can access the NET bible from the Faithlife app on Android. What happens when you try?

What specifically are you looking for?

On my NRSV - for example - I can click on a word in the Old Testament and select the Info option.

This gives me some information about the word (manuscript and lemma and morphology) and I can go from there to a Bible Word Study of the Hebrew word.

What you don't get at the moment is the multi-lined interlinear display that you have on the desktop application.

We have put some thought into the issue and we think there are a couple possible ways to do this. This isn't a current priority for several reasons, one of which being what Graham mentioned (it's not something iOS could implement), but it IS something we think would be really cool to allow in the future.
