Seeking advice on which Android tablet to buy....

Dear all,

I used to have a 1st generation iPad and now its become so slow for basically any apps running on it these days and crash is not uncommon...this is understandable as Apple wants more revenue.

Now I like to explore what model of Android tablet I should buy as I plan to use this device predominately for Logos and therefore don't want to buy a iPad, which obviously is expensive, for essential a singular usage. Another key consideration is that I don't know which model of Android tablet would have a longer battery life per charge as my use of the device is primarily for book reading and I have a very sizeable collection of books in my Logos library (something over 5000+).

It's grateful if anyone of you could shed light on this. Much appreciated.

No, Google Nexus 10 (manufactured by Samsung) is actually the top of the line, but it lacks a SD port. (there are work arounds for this if you use a regular thumb drive with a dongle cable to plug in to USB port, but they are not elegant). Still, cannot beat screen resolution and power.

Would suggest you take a look at the new 2013 Nexus 7 32GB version (avoid the 16GB version): fast, very high resolution screen, capacity enough on board for a significant number of books to be downloaded and stored "local:" and small enough that it can be handled easily.

I keep just less than one thousand resources on my tablet, you do not download the entire library as you do on a desktop or laptop, just the ones you use most frequently. Adding an external micro SD card does not help store more books locally, a external card is useful only if you want to store movies, music or large photo libraries. The Nexus does not have an external card option, does not seem to need one. Keep the wireless off when not in use for downloads etc and the battery will let you read for many hours a day and quite a few days between charges. Keeping the screen brightness at a lot less than 100% will help extend battery life too....

I have a Nexus 7 32GB and I would second what David says. [Y] [Y]Take the plunge with this and it won't kill your pocketbook compared to the Ipad. Plus you don't have indexing issues compared to a PC (i.e. it's fast) Hope that helps.

I have both the 2012 and 2013 Nexus 7s and they are both amazing. They even have a magnet so you can get a case that covers your screen and then unlocks when you open it.

the 2013 has an amazing screen (with pixel density equal to and better than some of the newest ipads)

I have two or three english bibles, a couple of commentaries, and the greek and hebrew and Im on the 16gig and I have plenty of space.

The Nexus 7 is def. the best way to go.
