Purely Superficial Suggestion: PACKAGING

Last week, I, with high hopes, bought a copy of Logos as a Christmas gift for my dad. When it arrived today, disappointed couldn't begin to describe my feelings toward the packaging in which the software arrived. A DVD in a plastic bag with a one-page startup sheet? For THAT much money? No box? No interesting "welcome" note? No warranty card? No bubble gum stick? NO nothing?

I'm certain that I've seen Logos software in my local Berean store before with a box. Maybe this is a new feature of the V4 software?

In any case, I don't mind paying a buck or two extra for some nice packaging... especially for software of this price and when it's a gift for someone.

Just a thought. Thanks for hearing my gripe.

Respectfully Jey, I couldn't disagree more.

I could see adding a gift packaing option to shipping for some extra dough, but most of these are just people buying for themselves. I'm happy not to have to pay any more than I have to and if having a very simple package saves me enough for a 20 oz. diet pepsi, I am glad for it. I'd rather just download it anyway and pay no shipping or packaging at all.

I prefer to download, too. But even if I were getting it shipped to me, I'd also rather save on the packaging to save the planet. Nothing annoys me more than buying packaged software which takes up a good 10 inches of shelf space only to get it home and find out there's nothing in the box but one DVD and a thin paper getting started guide and the rest is all air. I rarely buy software that way anymore.

I can understand why a gift package would be a nice idea, though. Several others have been mentioning on the Forum buying Logos as a gift for someone, so that would be nice. But just a simple colorful shiny cardboard folder not much bigger than the disk itself would be more than adequate. We all need to get used to the idea that bigger is not necessarily better when it comes to presents! :-)

For as a "gift set edition" it wouldn't be hard to do a classy cardboard folder like they did for Logos for Mac 1 when it was released. This would flair it up a bit without having a tonne of packaging which gets thrown away anyhow.

Personally, I was disappointed when I saw the Logos for Mac 1 packaging. I wondered how in the world that disc was going to stay safe.

But I was extremely impressed this Christmas morning when I held The Essential IVP Reference Collection's packaging for the first time. It felt like I really had something nice in my hands!
