I just bought a new mac laptop...how long will logos take to download?
Larry, what do you own? The resource downloads take the longest. The program itself, not too long.
Have you seen this wiki article on how you can move to a new computer and save downloading and indexing time? Method 2 will save you the most time.
For the last 2 hours it has said, "Preparing to Download, This may take awhile."
I own a Mac Book Pro 13
Mark meant "what resources and/or packages do you own." Obviously, owning one small resource will take much less time than owning 7000+. I do think there may be an issue with the software on Mac for initial installs... Not necessarily 10.9 related.
Logos 5 Gold upgraded from Logos 4 platinum...is what I own.
That is the same as what I own. [:)]
If you are still seeing the "preparing library," I would kill it, restart your computer, and restart logos. If you still see the preparing library an hour later, let us know.
I let it update all night...I have really slow internet...it's still not finished!!!
Is something different happening or no? The fact that you have slow internet may be part of the problem. We are talking about very large downloads. When I originally downloaded my L4 base package, it took more than 24 hours... Our DSL was running a little spotty at the time. You also have an L5 package on top...
Wow...thanks, I guess sometime tomorrow, it will be finished!
Did you restart your computer? If you didn't, you should. If you did, let it keep going.
Yes, I did restart my computer...Almost 24 hours...Just wish there was a status bar that told me where I was...
27 hours...
Is there a way to check on a Mac the status of the Download? I'm 28 hours into this and I'm ready to give my new computer a rest!!!!
What's the speed of your internet?
I do not recall mine taking that long when I went to Logos 5 Platinum.
I'm getting...1.37mbps down
Still not done? Have you tried another restart? I wonder if logs would be informative... If you want, see my signature line for instructions. You would need to enable logging, start up the app, let it run for a bit, kill it, and then grab the logs.
It's still not done...will I lose all my progress if I restart?
If I am reading correctly, 1.37MB? That is very slow download speed. That may be the reason it is taken so long.
Yes...I'm now at chick-fil-a with hopes of faster internet!
Ok...finally got through to Support at Logos...the "preparing to download" screen should not take longer than 15 minutes. If it does, then delete the installation and start over. When I did that, it fixed my problem. Now I have the little logos icon at the top of my screen that tells me my status of download. So there was a problem in the installation.
Good to hear. Sorry you had so much trouble with it. Thanks for letting us know so that others might not have to suffer as long. [:S]
Hello
I battle with a similar problem. I encountered severe software issue resulting in inability to login to the account on my Mac. Finally, I deleted old account and created new with different name (situation similar to fresh OS installation). Everything OK, the only problem is Logos. After signing in the program stays even overnight in "Preparing for Download" with CPU heavily used but neglected disk operations. What to do with that?
13-inch Mid-2009 MBP, 2,53 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM, 750 GB HDD (over 250 GB free space), 8 Mbit Internet. Installed Maverick and Logos 5.2 SR-1. Library app. 2800+ titles. In disk utility I let permissions checked and repaired.
The only I can provide is that form Loggin folder7802.LogosError.log
Pavel, you can supply more complete logs by following the link in my signature, or in Bama's just above your post.
Jack, following your instruction, I downloaded Logging Utility, enabled logging and started Logos again (for the fifth or sixth time). Surprisingly, suddenly, it works a and starts downloading 11 GB of my resources. The only thing changed is that I enabled logging.
Maybe this is a gift of my Lord in comming Blessed Sabbath. [:D]
The only thing changed is that I enabled logging.
Seems that happened to me manny beta cycles ago [8-|] In any case, pleased that your system is now working.
Hi Larry,
You got a response from Support? I have the same issue and reporting it has netted zero help. When you say delete the installation, what exactly did you delete? I have downloaded the installation file three times with the same results. Any details will be helpful and appreciated.
Thanks,
John
Wow! I guess 4th or 5th time is the secret! Finally got past the screen and now downloading resources!
