Computer Shutting Off While Indexing

My computer shuts off while the Logos 5 Silver package reaches 7 or 8% indexing. It restarts, then when the computer reloads, the program begins indexing at 0%. This cycle of shutting off and restarting has been going on for a couple of hours. Thanks for your help7725.Logos.zip

The most likely cause for this is a computer hardware issue, and the most likely culprit is overheating. Indexing is an intensive operation that can cause a computer to heat up in ways that other programs don't.

If you have a desktop (tower) computer, it may be good to open the case (outside or in a garage) and blow out the dust. This might help. For laptops, make sure that the fan is unobstructed, that there is good airflow under the computer as well as on all sides. (For most newer computers, you can find utilities that monitor heat sensors built in to the computer that can tell you if overheating is the problem.)

Another possible culprit is a faulty power supply (that one got me a few years back), though that is more likely to cause random, not predictable restarts (like what you're seeing). On the other hand, the power demand (especially on the hard drive) for indexing could (maybe) cause this.

There are other less common causes for such behavior.
