BUG: clause search

This seems to involve more than simply clauses. Even a search for "serpent" (as in Milton's Paradise Lost Book 1

I guess I would call what you want to do "phrase search." I don't have Shakespeare or Milton, but I tried a basic search for "lasting friendship" in the Perseus classics collection and got a number of hits in several English translations that use that phrase. So unfortunately I can't reproduce the problem you are having. Are you sure you are doing a basic search and using quotation marks around the phrase you are searching for?

I've been using Logos for years so I am well aware of the procedure (though it's possible to slip up occasionally). Yes, I'm sure. This happened after the last update so I suspect the fault lies there.

I suddenly became a bit apprehensive regarding whether the morphological search was also mucked up so I ran a morph search—Phew ! It still works. A bible study program without a usable search program is WORTHLESS.

I kind of doubt this is your problem, but since Logos 'leaks' memory, I periodically have to re-start it to make it behave (below, it began refusing to load images; a re-start cleared memory).

Since the program closes and restarts when a new version is installed, I doubt that is the problem, but I'll give it a try since I'm not sure how long it was open prior to my search.

Peace and Every Blessing, Denise! Sometimes it seems to me that you truly "enjoy" (?) disparaging Logos. (I do admit that I come across as a FAN-boy, eh??? *smile* which probably annoys you .... sorry!) ...........

However, I think I'm more than a little skeptical of your statement that Logos leaks memory .....

what is your verification for such a statement? I'm a long-term heavy user of Logos Bible Software (Windows 8.1) - and have never noticed such a thing ... leaking memory???

I do follow Dave Hooten's advice about using Piriform's CClearner and DeFraggler now and again; however, that is a computer item ... not a software item, I would think ...

Well gee, Milford. Disparaging Logos for trying to destroy the best software ever written (ok ... best 'Bible' software ever written) should come as no surprise! Why just this morning I've been basking in the words of my new NIDNTT on Libronix. Really interesting.

But regarding memory leakage, I'm referring to Logos grabbing memory and not releasing it until it runs out. When I re-start Logos, layout matching, I get back about 10% of my PC's memory. It's easy to watch with a task monitor and it's even easy to isolate which processes in Logos are the worst offenders.

I only yap about Logos because (a) people are using for Bible study (b) once they give their money to Logos, they're stuck and so (c) Logos owes a duty. Now true, that's not a business principle so probably on the forum, 'Christian-y' stuff doesn't count.

The Windows version of Task Mgr in W7 works fine; don't know about 8.1. One of the headings choices is memory (private). Right now mine is about 701K and it'll work its way up to almost a gigabyte before I pull its plug. Before loading my layout, it's 162K, so the loosy-goosy usage is almost 2/3's of the layout usage.

Keep in mind, it depends on what you're doing; the memory grab-and-hold is process dependent.

OFF-TOPIC (a little): I've been 'testing' my NIDNTT to see if it's a keeper (it is). But the 'test' has been ὄνομα. So, it's kind of interesting how 'the name' is so important with Logosians. With other software I have, no one gets excited if the older software is ballyhoo'd against the new (and visa versa). And driving, our Eurovan doesn't hold a candle to the older VW campers. But in Logosland, the 'name' is critical.
