Logos 5 Broke - Says it Needs Update, but is already up-to-date!

Evertime I try to open Logos 5 I get the following message:

Logos 5 Error

Of course I have tried downloading the latest updates and it tells me the following:

The program will not run.

Any help?

P.S. I am running the latest version of Windows 7. I only use Logos irregularly (once or twice in a couple of months), so I really don't know when this issue might have started in relation to some Windows update.

Try to repair the installation from Control Panel >> Programs and Features. Right click Logos Bible Software and select Repair.

If that doesn't work try to re-install using Method 3 i.e.

backup the resource folder (see wiki for its location)
uninstall Logos from Control Panel
remove the Logos4/Logos5 folder
install as per wiki Method 3

I tried to use the Troubleshoot for Compatibility feature and it said it should run as/under Windows XP service pack 2. I went ahead and did that and it ran fine for a few days. Now, today, it ran fine. Then I shut the program down and tried to run it again later in the day. This time I get the following prompt:

An update is ready to be installed. Do you want to install it now? (Recommended.)

I select "Yes" but it never isntalls and the program won't open. I tried to do a Repair, as Dave suggested, but it doesn't work. I'd rather not uninstall and then reinstall all over again.

Clearly it seems to be a problem with the program updating.

I still think you should reinstall as I suggested because it avoids re-downloading your resources and provides a fresh start by removing data (except resources) from the previous installation.
