The Bishop's Bible was produced under the authority of the Church of England in 1568. Supervised by the archbishop of Canterbury, Matthew Parker, a group of bishops set out to improve on the Great Bible, the official Bible of the church. They used the Geneva Bible as their model, but altered the Calvinistic language and notes they felt permeated the Geneva edition. The Bishop's Bible was one of the main Bibles relied upon when creating the King James Version.
