Can't See the Maps in Bible Facts viewer

I've recently noticed that I can't see maps in the Bible Facts viewer. When I first noticed this, I wasn't able to pull up any information on a Biblical city. Since then I've downloaded Logos 5.2 and 5.2 SR-1. With these downloads, I was able to pull up information about places again, but cannot see the maps. On one map, The Biblical World, it will show all the place names, but on a pure white background.

I'm sorry but I can't reproduce this on mine. I can see the maps. Hope someone else can give you some help.

  • Arnet. Trying posting the picture as a jpeg file, if you used .png file. I am not seeing your attachment.

Sounds like a graphics driver issue. When 5.0 first came out, I could not view the videos in the Faithlife video resources. Once I was able to upgrade my graphics driver, the problem was solved.

I had this problem but Milford thought I ought to be more positive.  My solution was to force Logos to clear out memory (re-start for some memory release, and full PC re-start for the rest).  But the symtoms were exactly the same including the maps with locations but no image (I included a jpg). I haven't updated for maybe 2-3 months (since the massive update). I thought for a while they had fixed their memory problem.

    Peace to all!           *smile*

Along with James C. I also cannot reproduce this ...       my installation works fine ...  and I also truly hope that someone can give you some help ...

Edit:  Lynden mentioned video driver ...     Graphics Driver, I mean ...  *smile*    once upon a time I did have video driver problems, but an upgrade solved that .....

Blessings, Denise!         *smile*             It doesn't sound like I was that helpful???  Sorry, but I don't remember that "incident," ....  and I'm truly sorry if you still have this problem  ......

I would think it would be very irritating and a cause of great annoyance ....

I DO remember OUR talking about memory leaks very recently, though ...

I have been actively monitoring Logos memory usage with my Task Manager, and I don't think I have a problem with Logos and memory; and, I'm really truly sorry that you do .........

Perhaps you could call Logos and one of their techs could do a "hands on" of your installation???

Well, Milford. I don't know what to say.  I'm afraid Logos5 may be corrupt (but not wicked).  I updated to 5.2 and all went well until I took a look at the Bible Facts tool. Now, not only won't he show maps, he won't even show the text either.

I feel like Titus has just finished off Jerusalem and Logos has reported the unfortunate news.

In addition to Bob's $10 cost for calling Logos, I'm pretty much tired of dealing with Logos5 for now.  Maybe another 6 months or so (it's next scheduled update in Deniseland).

Well, after further investigation, I've actually got good news (as seen in Deniseland anyway). None of my tools work!

Titus wiped me out; not Jerusalem!

I thought at first, oh my.

But then I remembered I don't use any of them since they're so poorly programmed (Bible Facts, Timeline, Bible Sense). I say poorly programmed due to they always being presented in a haphazard way as is a Logos specialty.

Now I know you don't like me to mention Another Bible Software Company.  So, I'll just say 'Sacred Bridge'. Actually dummy me tried to buy their timeline resource (which is not haphazard and actually can be viewed .... a major plus).  They literally sent me an email, not mentioning my immenent dummy-ness, but pointing out that I already had it.

As you might surmise, I'm a bit tired of software that has trouble 'displaying'. Not to mention deleting my startup icon. Titus is just not nice.

It doesn't bother me at all when you mention Another Bible Software Company, actually .............              all I've ever desired is "fairness" in comparisons ............

Anyway, I can see indeed your heart being heavy in that "stuff" you've paid for doesn't work!              That is not right or fair, and my heart is heavy for you, Denise!                                 If some of these things didn't work for me, I would be greatly upset.

Edit:          My version is also 5.2  .........

Well, with reading up on how Josephus handled Titus' father (a good prophesy never hurts), plus examining the dates on my 'tools' databases (2010), I figured the downloader couldn't be trusted (not corrupt, but looking pretty wicked).

And indeed, some more 're-starts' and Titus restored my tools.  Josephus wasn't stupid.
