4.0a bug report: BHS Lemma Bible Word studies broken

Hi.

If you right click on a word in the BHS text (I'm doing mishpat in Is 42:1, for example), and seek to get a Bible Word Study from the Lemma tab, the results are virtually empty. The issue looks to me to be that the lemma that is being used isn't the lemma, but the word. In the right click menu, the lemma still has the pointing. If, on the other hand, I right click on the same word in the ESV's interlinear ribbon, the lemma that appears has no pointing (apart from what distinguishes sin from shin).

Thanks. By BHS I presume you're referring to the Westminster text. Our developers just puzzled out what's going on here: we got burned by WPF having an all new normalization order for marks like Hebrew vowel points. We just need a bit of time to make sure we're picking the right solution, but you should see this working in a 4.0b Beta in the not too distant future.

Yep. It will have sporadic problems in any edition where the lemmas have vowel points. (So the Andersen-Forbes Hebrew text and related tools are fine, as are the Hebrew and Aramaic Inscriptions and the Targums.) If no consonant in a word has more than one mark on it, then the word should work, but if more than one mark is present (say a shin dot or a dagesh AND a vowel), it is likely that you'll have problems with that word. We're on it.

You know how to hide resources in Logos 4? Best to hide the "BHS Morphologically Tagged Edition". It is VERY old and has been replaced by the Westminster 4.2 Morphology. If you have the Westminster 3.5 or 4.0, those should probably be hidden as well. We toyed with the idea of completely deprecating those old Bibles and making sure they didn't appear in Logos 4, but then if someone happened to build a lot of Notes on specific words in those editions, we might have some issues. But you really don't want to use those. They aren't hooked into our new KeyLink system at all, for starters, so they'll produce a high number of bad KeyLinks.

Sorry if I was unclear, Nigel. All the Hebrew databases that have vowel points in their lemmas are affected by this bug, even the newer Westminster. But once that bug is fixed, the newer Westminster is significantly better in terms of accuracy than the old edition you had, especially when it comes to KeyLinking, but in other areas as well.
