Since Logos is not selling the MacArthur’s NT Commentaries Collection (30 volumes) anymore, I'm looking for someone who is willing to sell the complete Logos series to me.

I talked to Logos Sales just a minute ago and the person told me this is possible. I would have to pay also $ 20 transfer costs to Logos, to transfer the license.

Try a Google Search for "eBible The MacArthur Lifeworks Library" this was a Thomas Nelson package that was based on Logos 3, there are still some online retailers who claim to have stock and you can load the books into Logos 5 by calling the support team with the unlock code on the CD.

FYI... Logos does not want us to use their forums as a market place. While the forum guidelines do not say anything about posting for something you want to purchase, they clearly did state that this is not a place to attempt to sell or give away items.

The lifeworks library does not include the full set of MacArthur commentaries. It only has 1&2 Tim. and Titus.

I can not see how I would hurt their (Logos) business, since they do NOT sell it anymore...
If they would sell it, I would not ask my question, but buy it instantly at Logos.

Furthermore, the salesperson from Logos encouraged me to try to find someone who is willing to sell his/her copy to me and then let Logos transfer the license... As a matter of fact, Logos would earn $ 20 as a transfer fee. So I think I than rather help their business, than hurt them.

Or am I missing something??

It is I who first stated that this post crossed Logos' forums' guidelines. And as Alabama24 already said:

I think this post violated the policies of the forum, and Logos did ask us to encourage one another to follow the policies.

I think it is good that this be politely pointed out to people.

However, I think there is a little excessive emotional involvement by some who feel deputized by Logos. It seems like a personal vendetta. It reminds me a lot of ole deputy Barney Fife of Mayberry fame and his determination to enforce every jot and tittle of the law.

Maybe if a polite warning is not enough, we should just leave it in Logos' hands. They are very capable folks.

I think it would be a good idea to put our bullet back in our pocket, and not get so worked up about "nipping it in the bud". After a bit, we look silly.

Since I'm rather new in this forum usage, I did not read the forum policies, before I posted my question. After the first "FYI" about a possible violation of the forum rules, I wrote the email as quoted above, to get an exact answer from Logos.

Since then, I have not yet had an answer from the forum moderator... and I'm still waiting... As stated in my email, I don't want to violate the forum rules. If I'm doing that, then I will surely delete the post, although I don't know if and how I can do that...

Hope everybody can be a little patient until I got an answer from the forum moderator...;-)

The forums are largely user driven... Logos does comment from time to time, but comparatively speaking, it is rare.

Logos has never, ever said a negative word about Brother Thomas and his allowing buying and selling of used Logos Resources on http://www.stilltruth.com/

which has "busted" as a website and is slowing being rebuilt by him. In fact Thomas has been a Logos MVP for years and served His Lord and Jesus' Church in many wonderful ways over the years....

For someone to "grab ahold" of this matter using Facebook seems to be a great idea to me ... *smile* Who would be willing to assume the responsibility, eh???

Based on the meaning of the word "solicitation" things could be subject to interpretation [;)] I don't think solicitation of any kind is prohibited only those that seek to promote third party sales, giving away stuff, etc. which in any case we've all been guilty (even MVP's) when Rejoice Christian Software was around. Even MVP's (or some at least) were really promoting some of the sales and giving the now defunct third party company props for their great sales and what not. Same is done indirectly (even by MVP's) when someone says, "if you shop around you might find it cheaper else where" or "CBD has a sale going on R.C. Sproul works" etc. Now those statements DO go against forum policy (rules - whatever you want to call them), but the OP's request is a legit request backed up by a Logos employee. Logos does not sell the product anymore, therefore he's just trying to find someone who would be willing to sell their McArthur's commentaries to him; thereby making Logos some money and him getting what he wants. It's a win, win situation. No third parties being promoted or anything like that. In fact, if someone is willing to sell their copy they don't need to post on the forum and go against the rules, they can contact the OP directly through the email address he's provided.

So I'd say we all need to chill and stop trying to act like the forum police trying to enforce laws on circumstances where they don't really apply. And again, my observation can be subject to interpretation too, but until an actual Logos employee responds and says, "No, the rule applies even to those asking to buy a product we no longer sell..." then I believe we shouldn't post things like that, but until then we can post all we want when it comes to asking someone if they are willing to sell a resource that Logos no longer sells. I personally would love to buy "The Moody Handbook of Theology" because unfortunately I missed out on it and if someone is willing to sell it to me, hey email me at: iglesiadecristo3 at yahoo dot com I will buy it in a heart beat and make both you and Logos some money in the process. I'm sure Logos won't mind getting my $20 bucks to transfer a license from someone who's willing to sell their rights to me (which in the final analysis is always a Logos Approved action - Logos is not going to say, "Oh sorry, you went against the forum rules so we cannot complete this transaction"...LOL...or asking "Did you guys meet in the forum and promoted this product there, because if so, we cannot complete this transaction because you have violated the forum rules - get the point?).

One final example on how the forum rules are violated (even by MVP's) is when they promote kindle products directly or indirectly; or when they post links to "David Cook's Books" which most of the time are not even his books but Vyrso or some other third party reader that are also sold by Logos or its affiliates (e.g. Vyrso). So you see, we get picky about one legit request, but we let it fly when it's something else that we should really "worry" about (which I, personally, don't worry about it anyway).

Anyway, pardon my bluntness, but I think I have a valid point here and the OP is not violating any forum rules and some are overreacting by trying to play the forum police role.
