I've just purchased a new laptop and want to install Logos 4 on it. Is it absolutely necessary to have Logos 3 installed first to migrate my previous resources or is there a way for Logos 4 to recognize the earlier resources from my hard drive?
If you synced your licenses in 3.0 then when you load 4.0 it will check them on Logos' server and download the resources you had in 3.0. You don't need to install 3.0 on your new computer.
Thanks, Mark. I just read your other comments about cloud computing. This is a killer for me because I'm on satellite internet (only thing we can get rurally) with a limited monthly bandwidth and my install on my desktop just about spent it all. Don't think I like this 'new' way of doing business.
There have been many complaints about the number of updates for resources we've been getting for the same reasons. I don't have an extremely fast Internet connection, but at least have no download limits. I feel for you an the others who face this problem. The Logos downloads are certainly the biggest I've ever encountered. Blessings.
Have you read this page: http://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers ?
None of the solutions involves downloading any more than the installation files.
The third (safest) option uses the scan command.
Good article, Damian. It may be my answer.
So...I have a basic question, which perhaps you've just answered. I have a bunch of resources on Logos 3: Anchor Bible, WBC, Dead Sea Scrolls, IV: Resources, etc, etc. I look at the list of books that come with the various metallic levels of Logos 4, and I don't notice, eg, ABD on any level. But, are you saying my Logos 3 version will be auttomatically integrated?
If I don't want to buy any new titles, do I need to just download the Logos 4 engine? Or do I need to purchase anything?
I downloaded the engine, but it snags when it's trying to integrate all my Logos 3 resources. Maybe Logos.com is totally clogged with users!
Thanks, Gary
