Selecting text problem

Hi,

In a recent update I've noticed an error that impacts how I commonly use Logos.  I usually select a portion of text and copy it for printing in a word processor but I've noticed that the text selection has problems when dragging a large portion of text.

I start at one place in the text but by the time I am done dragging to the end of where I need to copy the starting point has moved on its own.

Is this a known problem?

This happened to me a couple of times last week, I thought that I must have made a mistake as it worked subsequently.

This has happened to me in a stranger sense - it has flipped directions as if I were scrolling up rather than down. But because I can't predict it I've been unable to document it.

This sounds like "smart selection" which was a new feature in 5.2 - see http://community.logos.com/forums/p/76715/536938.aspx#536938 for a description.

If this is a big issue for you it can be enabled / disabled in Program Settings

    Hi Graham,

I had smart text selection turned off when I had the problem and I just turned it on and experienced the same problem.

when trying to select a large portion of text by selection with the mouse or by selection and using page down and holding shift to select a large portion of text the starting point moves on its own.

    Hi Angela,

This was with multiple resources.  Most recently it was with romans commentaries from the NICNT and BECNT.  I would use a mouse and drag downward a large amount of text and copy and paste it into Word.  But I would notice that the starting point was not where I started.  I would try it again and before copying scroll up to the start point and it moved down lower than where I started.  This also occurred if I started with the mouse and then used CRTL-SHIFT and paged down and then selected.

    I am using Windows.

I tried it again today after a few logos updates and noticed it didn't occur on my first try.

    For updates on this issue

This will be fixed in 5.2 SR4.
