OK here is my delima...

I have Logos 4 installed on new laptop and ordered the Essential IVP Reference Collection and was under the impression that this package was automatically download and installed until today when I received a package from Logos with a boxed version of the IVP and installation instructions for Libronix 3.  From previous posts I have read that if your licenses are synced you will automatically download the material and there is no need to install anything.  I have searched for the books in my library but either they are not there or I am searching incorrectly.

I did an update today and downloaded upgrade 4.0a which I do like however no IVP. Can someone shed some light on this before I contact Logos.

The IVP collection and a few other things like WBC and the Galaxie Theological Journals are published by Logos publishing partners. At present, it means that you have to still order a DVD which is in Logos 3 format. (I know it is confusing) When you get the DVD, you have two options:

    1. If you still have Logos 3 on your computer, you can install IVP using Logos 3. Then after it is running, syncronise your licenses with Logos' servers. Then the next time you use Logos 4, it will check your licenses on Logos servers and download IVP for Logos 4.

    2. You can call Logos with your DVD in hand and ask the to activate your license on their servers. Logos 4 will then see the change and download IVP.

If you like though, you might be able to call sales even before you receive your DVD and see if they would go ahead and activate your license so that you can use it right away. I see no reason why they can't and I think I have read of people doing this.

In summary, this is a simple case where the technology and systems are ahead of a couple of the products. There are many of us that hope this is fixed soon!

    Hi Donovan

Good to see a fellow KEDS student posting on the L4 forums!  I just purchased it and I am really enjoying the product.  I also have bought the IVP Collection, and emailed them about getting it activated in my L4 library.  (a bit expensive to phone from South Africa).  I hope they are able to sort it out soon.

    God bless,

    Paul

Thanks for your reply to Keith's question.  It helped me out.  I haven't had luck getting a timely response from Logos so it's nice that there's such an active community of Logos users providing assistance to newbies like me.

    Hi Paul,

I am also in SA (Pretoria) and  was wondering if we should start a seperate forum, mainly for us South Africans and possibly we could address our unique problems.

I have been using Logos3/4 for about 4 years now.

    Blessings,

    Jan

    Hi Jan

    Groete,

    Paul

    Hi Paul,

So engels as wat kan kom - maar dis lekker om 'n bietjie Afrikaans om die forums te praat.

It would be nice, in the distant future, for us 'Boere' to get together and exchange Logos 4 ideas from a local perspective. A sort of demi-Morris Proctor Camp.

    Groete vanaf Garsfontein - Jan

Engels met 'n naam van Jan Kleinsmit?  Vreemd!

Well, the Logos camp (or even just a one day share session) sounds like a really good idea.  Especially for new users like myself.

Ons het 'n huis in Monument Park, so dis nie te ver daar van jou af nie.  Ek bly op die oomblik in Bloubergstrand - geniet nogal die see en die Kaapse skoonheid!

Are you a preacher/teacher/theological student or just a serious Bible student?

Someone once introduced me as an exegetical theologian with a passion for Jesus. I must admit the former was a bit of a mouthful. I am not sure how accurate the exegetical would be as I consider myself very much an amature in this field by normal standards - hence an appreciation for the Logos system.

I am by trade a web applications developer - hence, also, an understanding for what the Logos team are trying to achieve (successfully I might add)..

I am involved in a few home groups ranging from wild charismatics on the one side to serious Calvinists on the other. My objective is trying to help folk appreciate good theology and understand the value of good hermeneutics. I throughly enjoy the wide diversity within the Body of Christ. In a strange way the Logos community seems to fit this category.

Take down my e-mail address and possibly we could keep in touch -

    Take down my e-mail address

Jan, please be careful giving out your email addrss like that even on these sites.

Many here print out AT as a separate word & separate the segments [ie. info at newsbeat dot co dot za]  to confuse the automatic email "harvestors" that infest so many sites.

    Just a friendly suggestion! [:O]

    Regards

    Steve

(All the best to you and all of your other South African buddies here.)

Thanks for that advice Steve - will definitely be more careful in future. My reasoning was that I don't want to clutter up the forum with issues that are not relevant to the greater logos community.

By the way, can the message in question be edited?

You only have a certain number of hours to do it.

If you are too "late" you might be able to get a Forum Official to do it for you, but I do not know how (besides making a very expensive phone call).

Thanks again Steve - I realised that.

If there is a Forum Administrator out there it would be appreciated if you could delete my e-mail (the info@...) approx. 5 posts earlier.
