Use of screen real estate on 4.0.8 (Build 160)
Thanks for the new Android app update. I am, however, struggling to like it given its poor use of screen real estate on a smartphone-sized screen.
The last version of the app dedicated the entire screen for reading, hiding the notification area until we requested it by tapping on the screen. This new version permanently displays the notification bar, wasting reading space for no discernible reason.
Secondly, the new text size of and white space left below the resource names and references are unnecessarily large (and, for that matter, quite ugly). I understand that they're the same height as the new menu (which appears on tapping the resource text), but there is no need to *permanently* waste this space in case we click on the menu at some point. Instead I suggest that the menus could come down as shutter as needed (like the notification drawer, except requested by tapping) allowing this space to be reclaimed for reading.
These may sound like petty concerns, but with two panels open on a 4.8" screen (which isn't small for a smartphone), I appear to lose about four lines of text. In other words, on my screen this new app displays only 80% of the text of the last app, which is not a step forward IMO.
Can something be done about this please?
