Why your app store rating is so important to Logos

Do you like the improvements in the latest version of the Logos iOS apps? If so, please take a moment and give us a 5-star rating in the app store! A new release is a great time to regain momentum in the store rankings, and the more people who discover the Logos apps, the more resources we'll have to invest in improving them!
If you don't like the update, or if we failed to add the feature you most want, etc., please tell us here! The forum is a much better place for a discussion, and the app store star-rating is a brutal place to punish an app for not doing what you want.
App stores have become one of the most significant ways people find new applications. Many new Logos customers find us first through one of our free apps, then register and eventually purchase content.
Unfortunately, app stores are very crude tools for rating applications. There's only one way to score an app, with some written explanation. The system rewards high counts of high star-ratings, and creates a feedback loop where early winners top lists, which leads to more downloads, which keeps them atop lists, etc.
Logos will never top the rankings for the "Bible" keyword -- we weren't first, and our apps are powerful tools that reward a bit of investment -- in registration, in learning, etc. But your thoughtful (and positive!) review can help the serious Bible student choose us in their app store research.
And your 5-star rating will ensure we're close enough to the top of the rankings that they'll have a chance to read the thoughtful reviews.
Thanks!

I just downloaded the update and I really like the new look and will be giving it 5 stars. I do have an enhancement request though. The "Sort By" dropdown in the Library section currently has 4 selections. I would like to see additional filtering logic, especially "Recently Purchased". Many times I download new resources and forget I did so but would like to look through my new stuff!

Another thing for those of us who have left ratings; each new revision of the app requires new reviews. Its like the slate is wiped clean - so if you were happy and glowing last time, but this time you are silent then your voice is no longer being heard.
It may help to remind folks as part of the upgrade process to rate Logos. Many apps use the first run after updating the software as an opportunity to remind folks they need to re-rate the software and even provide a convenient link to help guide people to the right location.L2 lvl4 (...) Handily, when I went to add my review on the app store on my iPhone, it still had pre-filled the contents of the last review I left many months ago. I simply made a couple of minor changes and clicked sent.
Easy! [:D]

I just tried to write a review and it gave me an error saying that I must own this app before I can post a review about it....and I am opening the review page from the "Rate Bible!" section in the settings!

I had a problem with that but I now just have a folder in my favourites on PC Logos called "Books to Read" into which I drag new books that I DO wish to read now and this syncs nicely with the Android app. I also have one called "Reading Books" to remind me which books I am currently reading as I usually have more than one going at the same time but sometimes forget which ones they are!!

Rating the app coming from inside Logos didn't work. I had to do it thru AppStore. First time for me, so when it asked for title, I left it empty ... none of their business. My 5-stars might not be going anywhere.

I'd like to be able to sort my library by series, i.e. all my IVP Old Testament dictionaries together, all my Zondervan Bible Background volumes together, etc.
Also, the slider to change between screens has tended to interfere with the ios7 dropdown and pull-up menus a good bit. I'm not sure of a good way around that.

Didn't realize the ratings were so important - I added a 5 star rating! I really like version 4 of the iOS product.

Ben, one way you could do this now is to assign tags to the books in a collection, then filter your library using that tag.

Highly recommended to sort your library this way and it will be available on your mobile app too!

I think we've kind of wandered off from Bob's comment, though he did request issues be on the forum, not the app store! And I learned a lot. Now I'll go and rate my other favs. I wondered why most apps didn't have comments (since updated!).
Regarding the library, this isn't a popular answer, but it sure as the sun rises, works great. Retitle your resources. Took me maybe a hour. My commentaries, lexicons, Bibles, apparatus, .... anything that operates as a quick look up. Not the whole library.
The benefit?
- Logos library is automatically sorted (since fgh's suggestion of remembering the sort is somewhere in Bellingham)
- Mobiles are all sorted the same. Logos uses your title.
- Easy to quickly call up (I only edit the start of the title).
- Titles sort your way in dropdown boxes (except the ones that mix all the books up)
- Lastly, most people study by 'area' ... in my case I want my commentaries ordered by my Bible and grouped. I want my lexicons to be quickly pickable; I don't want to 'think'. My English Bibles by denom/age. My OL Bibles by age. And so on.
Re-titling solves MANY problems. People say 'tag!' (me). True, but 'retitle' solves far more issues. So 'both!'

can you give an example of how you would retitle a particular bible?

Responding to abondservant, I group my KJVs with KJV: on the front of the title. Latin translations with CTH: (typically Catholic, though not always). In theory, the abbreviation can be more complicated, but the key is Logos default sorts, and then 'memorability'. Example below.
Adding to the above, retitling also improves within a collection or tagging. I have a tag of 'Bibles_English' and then the retitling sorts the english by type of translation ... KJV, Catholic, readers, etc.
Text Comparison tool: retitling sorts the Bibles 'your' way (why I group my Bibles, to see the smaller changes/edits when comparing a verse).

Peace, Sweet Denise! *smile*
If we're all nice to you on this Beautiful Thanksgiving Day in your country (Happy Thanksgiving and Blessings, By The Way!), would you please inform us as to where in the world we could purchase our very own digital copy of The Evangelical Standard Version Bible, eh???
*smile* Unless you've done a PB???

I love the new app. The design is light years beyond the old app. It's the single most exciting thing to happen to the app since I've been using it. I'm extremely grateful for the teams that put this release together. I love it. Can't say enough good things about it.
I'll gladly revisit my review. However, I still can't give it 5 stars. It's a beautiful app, but it still needs simple offline lookups and comparison. I bought an Olive Tree library because of this missing functionality. I spent over $1800 on a Windows 8 tablet (kbd, SDD upgrade, etc) primarily because of this missing functionality. The app is incomplete without it.
But I don't want to take away from this great release. Despite that complaint this is an awesome awesome awesome release!

And a good Thanksgiving morning (American version) to you Milford. I assume you enjoy joking as I do.
Those famous eagle eyes of yours have detected I rename ALL my evangelical resources (so they nicely portray their message, of course ... theologies, Bible translations, devotionals, ESV, etc ... truly a special way of thinking).

I have a suspicion that Denise has simply renamed the ESV. Is that true Denise? (edit: I can see you already answered Milford while I was responding)

Yes, Bruce. And it's especially useful when sending a verse snippet to my evangelical friends! They don't have Logos, so they can't do that.
