Logos Rabbit Trails...
Hey All,
Has the Logos community came up with a word for the phenomenon that occurs when trying to prepare a lesson, where you trail off from one resource to another to another to another researching various topics that slowly creep away from the background and topics in your original lesson? IE: studying the servant song of Isaiah 42.1-9 I find myself 2 hours later researching "West Semitic Monumental Inscriptions" ?!?!?!?
While I find this process time-consuming, I'm still thankful that we have a software and stack of resources that would allow me to get that far off-track in just a matter of 2 hours.

Logos rabbit-trailing is just the best. I can't imagine rabbit-trailing anywhere else. At a real library ... they'd kick you out. Some of the journal sites ... need books! And Logos competition ... need a library!
Rabbit-trailing's do-able on Google-books. But it's hard work. No fun at all. Logosland is tops.
Similar to you, I was sleeping through some sort of argument about the gnostics in Galatians. Before you know it, the rabbit-trail heated up, and I was off to the fertilizer sands of Egypt ... heretic riots in France. Plus a side trip on exactly who live in Galatia centuries earlier!

I've totally been caught in many Logos "rabbit trails" but I also think that's how learning works many times.

A few years ago a member of the SS class I was teaching gave me a slip from a fortune cookie that reads, "If you chase two rabbits, both will escape." Therefore exercise care in rabbit-trailing [:D]
You can rabbit-trail with any set of resources, but Logos makes it far easier to go where no person has gone before, Wait, that's the wrong program. Obviously, someone else has been there, or you would not find it in Logos.

Hey all, thanks to your profound insights, I'd like to announce a Theological Breakthrough... I've figured out exactly why it took Israel 40 years to get to the Promised Land:
The Scene: It's early in the morning, sometime during the 5th year... Moses opens his Bible Maps Collection and looks at a map with Joshua...
Moses: "Okay the map says to turn left at the Wadi of Light... hmmmm... what's a wadi? [Clicks on Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Dictionary] Oh... interesting... they've got it referenced with something called a "parable"... I wonder what that is...? [Click]
Joshua (sighs loudly): "Oh not again..." Walks out of the tent to let the people know they may as well start doing laundry or something because they're not going anywhere THAT day.
