Logos 4.0a Crashes when placing icons on Shortcut Bar

When I fired up L4 this morning, it installed and loaded 4.0a (4.01.3.4533). Thanks for the update == this restored the ability to copy multiple verses in CBV, for which I'm very grateful. However, the upgrade also wiped out my existing shortcuts, and when I tried to put the CBV icon on the shortcut bar, the program crashed. When I restarted L4.0a I tried to put the system tools icon on the shortcut bar, it too crashed3.

P.S. If we could get this fixed by Christmas, that would be a wonderful present to the user community ;-)

Oh, and L4.0a also crashed when I tried to place the UMRCL on the shortcut bar.

Logos 4.0a also just crashed for me when I opened a stereoscopic image from the homepage and selected the "wiggle" function.
Just FYI.

Can we get some Log files for both of you?
Esther: it might be best if you open a new thread for this one since it seems unrelated. It can get very hard to follow a train of thought when trying to trouble shoot two different issues.
Please follow the directions in Diagnostic Logging and File a Bug Report

Thomas, I'd be happy to post a log file. I enabled logging, started L4, let it crash, waited until it closed, and I'd love to post the file that should have been created. The instructions say the log's in My Documents/Logos Log Files, but the only files there are from the Beta testing cycle. I've searched my system looking for the log files and nothing is found.
But hey, it's so easy to duplicate the problem, simply click tools, click CBV, drag it to the shortcut bar and watch the program crash. Works everytime -- Home computer, Win7 Home Premium, Office computer WinXP Pro/SP3.
If you can tell me where I might look for the files on my Win7 machine, I'll see if they're here somewhere, but again, searching doesn't find them
Blessings and Merry Christmas

Dale,
Sadly (?) it doesn't crash for me. As for file location, they should be in the location you specify.
But going back to the main issue, you stated that when you opened L4 after the update, your icons were gone? That doesn't seem right. I'm sure there's some corruption there, but I'm not sure where.
Have you got internet sync turned off by any chance?

.Sorry...I should have done that in the first place. Nevertheless, it's no longer necessary, as the problem seems to have fixed itself. My theory is that indexing had not yet finished.

Hi again Thomas,
"System Tools shows: Use Internet -- is that the "sync" of which you're speaking? The problem certainly appears on both my home and office computers. And, the problem did not appear on either machine until after the update -- e.g., I started L4, had my shortcuts. I updated at the parsonage, and lost my Shortcuts. I went to the church, and had my shortcuts. Updated that machine and lost my shortcuts. (I guess the "sync" process is working).
Oh, and this time, the log files got created and are now available. Don't ya just love it when a plan comes together [:P] . If I've done everything correctly, they should be attached to this message.

Yes Sorry, Dale that was my mistake. During 4.0 beta there was an extra command that Damian lobbied for "set sync to off/on" It is no longer part of the program that I'm aware of, but My brain got crossed with reality......Rev Dale L Durnell OSL said:"System Tools shows: Use Internet -- is that the "sync" of which you're speaking?
I think maybe the Log didn't finish writing. Can you crash it again and let it sit there for a few moments, say a minute or two even and maybe something else will appear in the logs?
From your description something really odd is going on with shortcuts, I just can't remember how to fix a sync problem. [:^)]

I am having the same problem. It crashes whenever I try to place a shortcut on the bar.

Dear Logos Tech --
Thanks for release (3737) -- that's fixed the problem with the missing shortcuts. Appreciate it very much. My laptop's still reinstalling because it didn't like going from SR-7 all the way to 3737, but it's been downloading all for the past 8 plus hours and should be through by noon today ;-)
Thanks again -- when I get to work this morning I'll update my machine at the church to 3737 also.

There's been a number of resource updates during that period, which is the reason for the long download. The program download itself should only take a few minutes (it's only 36Mb).

Hi Mark -- actually the 16 gb download was because the update to 4737 failed -- it kept asking if I had permission to install to a directory where an earlier version resided. The simplest method to fix it was to delete the program and reinstall -- I think it was looking to use a directory that was operative during the Beta test phase but which is no longer used. Anyway, I deleted the program (or thought I did) ran the install from the link on the Blog and it then "repaired" the install which had actually been removed. The end result is, it wiped out all my L4 resources and had to reinstall them.
However, I've seen instances on both of my desktop machines where the move from 4.0a to 4.0a 4737 yesterday, and today up to SR-2 (4767) where the download has been over 800 mb. Don't know why the update has been so large, but I'm thankful I don't run on a dial up ;-)
Happy New Year

Hi Dale,
Happy New Year brother.
The 884meg download were some reworked reverse interlinears.

I've had the shortcuts bar crash since at least November. I've ran updates dozens of times in that time frame, waiting for a fix, but to this day still get the crash every time I try to add a shortcut to the bar. (A logos update sometime quite a ways back deleted all of my shortcuts on my bar as well).
Since the plain updates aren't working to resolve the problem, do I need to uninstall/ reinstall Logos4 as well?
Thanks for your help.

Chad,
This is an ancient thread, so it's highly likely your problem will be different from this one. Please can you start a new thread describing the problem, making sure to upload your logs (see 'how to ask for help' below).
