Unable to "Select All"

The "Select All" in the Edit Menu is not working for me. Perhaps this has already been reported and I missed it.

I had an article in one of the window panels. It was short and I wanted to "select all" so I could do the quick "select all" with cmd-A, then copy with cmd-C and then paste it into an e-mail. But cmd-A did nothing. I selected the first word in the article and tried again with no better results. I also tried using the menu, but again nothing. I can manually select all by scrolling down with the shift key.

Is this a bug? Am I doing something wrong? Am I missing something? I am on a Mac.

I don't know if I fully follow. When you write "article," do you mean on the home page, or in a resource? If I were thinking "select all" would work, I would anticipate that it would select ALL meaning the entire book, not just an article. I don't think publishers would want an easy way for you to "select all," so I wouldn't expect that feature to work.

In a resource. I was in a short pamphlet (less than 1200 words) and wanted to copy this.

I don't think publishers would want an easy way for you to "select all," so I wouldn't expect that feature to work.

1. If this is a "feature" of the program, "Select All" should be greyed out as an option in the menu. Which makes this a bug that should be fixed.

2. If this is a "feature" by design, it is a design flaw since one can manually select all anyway, so what is be being protected by this "feature"?

I'm running on Windows but can't see the "Select All" option in any menu. Where are you seeing this?

According to help, Cmd-A is a Rich Text Editor function.

So it looks as though it is designed to only work when you are modifying your own documents, not Logos-supplied resources.

I think, as Alabama, mentioned, the publishers don't want to make it easy for someone to copy the entire contents of a resource to an external document which is probably why this isn't available in the resource viewer.

I accept you can scroll down and select the text but it isn't as easy as a single key-stroke combination.

I am using Windows, but your post got me interested because I have never seen an edit menu item in L4 or L5. Therefore, I have been trying to find it, and I have not been able to. I am wondering if you could supply a screen shot of what you are talking about. Thanks.

The Edit menu is part of the standard Mac menu bar, which is above the menu bar within the Logos app. It does not appear in the Windows OS.

It seems to me that only a part of this menu makes sense in most situations in Logos (most people wouldn't want to Cut, Delete or Paste text from/into a bible or a published book, whereas they will use these thing when editing a note). What does Logos normally/what do other applications on the Mac do with it, will non-working functions be grayed out depending on context?

I just checked iTunes and "select all" was greyed out until I selected an appropriate part of the app for "select all" to make sense.

The more Mac like Logos for Mac is, the less irritating it will be to those of us who are die-hard old-time Mac users. I expect Mac programs to behave in a certain way. If I wanted to run Windows programs I wouldn't have a Mac computer!
