Word Studies

Hey folks. Quick question: I'm a seminary student, taking language courses that require very sophisticated word studies. Has anyone out there accomplished a diachronic/synchronic word study with Logos 5. That's a word study that tracks the usage of a term through the Classical Greek era, through its use in the Septuagint, the Koine period in other literature outside of the Bible and then on through the New Testament.

It would be great if I could get some insight here. I'm newer to Logos. Thanks!

Your ability to study a word in that manner will in large part be dependent on the resources you have in your library. However with a good library you should be able to do what you are asking for with the bible word study guide. The Textual Searches section is going to be especially helpful

As Fredc said your ability to do this type of search will depend on the resources you own but certainly Logos is able to do this.

Wow, I've never seen anyone so enthusiastically use the Tags feature of the forums.

You can pick up a lot of Greek texts for free if you download the Perseus Classics collection.

Also, BDAG is an essential reference resource for this kind of work. It tracks the usage of terms through many extra-biblical sources and the LXX and NT.
