Wow. I couldn't believe my lucky stars (I'm sure they're out there somewhere). The same day I'd decided the NIDOT/NT was just a bit too liberal for me, I checked JBL out, and it was too pricey for me. Talk about lost in space.

Then the NEXT DAY Logos puts JBL on the Christmas Sale! Whoo hoo!! (Did I mention it's in Libronix format too. Oh those stars are out there tonight. To include a great meteor shower on the 13th ... the Geminids)

Mark, I don't know if you trained Milford, or his good Canadian sense taught you. Of course good exegetical skills might suggest the issue is closer to home.

You both seem to have a knack for buying PP's and CP's at the right time. Maybe there's a lesson there.

My earlier logic was that as a member (subscriber) of SBL, and free access to JBL copies, why Logos? That logic fell apart when I couldn't find the current JBL issue and the kind gentleman at SBL sent me about 12 PDFs ... 1 for each article!

So much for Lucky Stars, eh? LOL...well, as she explained, a woman's logic is not so good at times. Like this picture I was looking at yesterday...it pretty much had the following message: Woman's Logic - a woman will let you see her wearing a bikini it doesn't matter if it shows more than one needs to see and she thinks is ok, but they scream "OMG don't look!" if you see her wearing under wear that actually covers her more than a bikini does. So go figure...LOL...I would post the picture, but it may violate forum rules, but you get the message about a woman's logic - seeing her in bikini is ok, but seeing her in underwear not ok, get it?...LOL

Unfortunately, that's a syndrome that plagues many users - The "Just to have it syndrome," also known as the "Bad Stewardship Syndrome." (which is a sin). [:(] I used to be guilty of that (perhaps still am), but circumstances in life have taught me to make better use of my money and to force myself to actually use and work with what I have so it won't be an "I have it and didn't know it" thing but an "I use it" or at least "I have used it in the past." It amazes me how some have stated they could even buy a small house or a few brand new cars with all the resources they've bought and for what, most of those resources don't get used for nothing but to say "Oh, I have it." [:^)] wow, sad but true, so true! And to think that way back in the days a Bible was all that was needed to preach the truth. In fact, in some 3rd world countries the Bible is the only book that is used to preach powerful simple gospel lessons that sometimes sound better than the ones prepared with the leading Bible software in the world...what are we coming to or have come to? Wow, mild case of epiphany moment...sorry! [:(]

I completely agree. I have 3,500+ resources and I want to buy more, but I decided to buy only Spanish titles to help this market (and to enjoy them, of course). But there are a lot from L4 Platinum base package I'm not using too much (some at all). Even like this, from time to time I'm checking good offers to update to L5 Gold even when only I'm interested in 3-4 resource in the update... Am I sick? I think so. I'm a little bit ashamed because I know small seminaries or colleges in Spain and the Czech Republic (where I'm living now) with smaller libraries than mine.

Speaking to myself, I must be more humble and grateful I am.

Paolo ... sorry for the confusion. I had earlier bought NIDOTTE/NIDNT which are theological dictionaries. Initially they appeared to be well written, but after several articles, I decided to pull the plug on both (get a refund). Actually NIDOTTE is pretty good but it might peter out too.

JBL, I've read many years but as an SBL member (which is fairly cheap, since you can pick and choose which volumes you want to read).

So, you're correct; they're not alternatives; just the same timing.

But I am surprised at the male logic that pervades the forum ... buy! .... it's on sale!! At least DAL got that part right, so eventually he'll catch up with us ladies.

Do you have any of the journals such as Grace Theological Journal or Bibliotheca Sacra or Westminster Theological Journal? Well, those are at the lower end of the scale while Journal of Biblical Literature is at the upper end of the scale. It has serious scholars from around the world. You might compare it with Vetus Testamentum and Zeitschrift für die alttestamentlische Wissenschaft. Perhaps Journal of Hebrew Scriptures would fit in there too.
