What new affordable Windows 8.1 NON-RT Tablet are you using effectively with Logos 5.0 please?

Ok, I apologize in advance (afterall the forums are riddled with my notes - gulp complaints - about the lack of good affordable Windows 8.1 hardware out there to run Logos 5.0) but no one has weighed in recently.  All the sales are over and hardware manufacturers seem to have turned a deaf ear to most of us who still wait for

  • affordable (under $600)
  • lightweight
  • long-lasting battery
  • enough memory (really 2K machines are a joke, right?)
  • enough space (128 should just become a standard, everything else is pointless)
  • decent readability (come on hardware developers, avoid glare and imagine someone reading www.biblia.com for example!)
  • undistorted volume that can be heard properly in case we have video or audio file needs.

Is the best the industry can do really these cheap (or catering to the very rich) duds?!!:

Asus Transformer T100 (keyboard not made for male hands and types characters repeatedly at will)

Acer Iconia W700 (has problems with wifi and reviewers across the internet say how unreliable it is)

Surface Pro 8.1 v1 or v2. (too expensive and temperature, fan, and volume issues)  One must be Rockefeller to own one!

Is it any wonder why Logos developers are seemingly NOT doing much in the way of touch functionality in Windows?
Why should they bother when the hardware is this poor?

Discouraged and waiting still,

Joshua in Rhode Island
(no doubt some of you are thinking "Oh buy a Surface Pro 2 and move on already...better yet open a real Bible and study it for a change")

Merry Christmas everyone.

    Totally agree...

If you meant 2 MB then it is su8fficient for a 32-bit OS and Logos 5 as I've previously commented.

With a 64 GB MMC drive, you just add a micro-SD card to make up the 128 GB! 128 GB MMC is feasible, though.

I'm referring to a Asus VivoTab Smart, similar to the Asus T100, but with an inexpensive Bluetooth keyboard & mouse ($AUD550 all up).

That's difficult for notebooks to achieve.

What is your complaint?  Too bright, too dull, text too small, screen too small?

You haven't mentioned speed and I suspect you want an i5 with an SSD, or just a cheaper Surface Pro.

Hi Dave, a cheaper Surface Pro 2 would be great, sure. [:)]

As for readability, (dare I say it?) retina-like readability would be nice.

I will give some thought to the micro-sd card....do people really use the VivoTab Smart that way effectively?  I thought no.

    Joshua,

I know the Surface Pro 2 is out of your price range, but you will be at least encouraged to know that it does not run hot like the first generation Surface Pro did and the battery life is way better.

I would really like to see an Atom Bay Trail tablet released that has 4GB of RAM. That might be just enough to make Logos run o.k. on it.

One of the things that the inexpensive Windows 8.1 tablets have is a capacitive touch screen, which given the Logos UI makes it difficult to manipulate with your finger and use the highlighting features properly. This is why tablets running Logos need an active digitizer, like one made by Wacom. It allows one to use the Logos UI controls with the stylus. But these active digitizers typically mean a higher price.

    Merry Christmas to you, Joshua.

I am using a Lenova Twist - a Windows 8.1 hybrid.  Though heavy for a tablet, I am satisfied.  It can be found for under $600.

    Blessings,

Mr. Hooten, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Anderson, thanks for your replies.  Joyous HOLYday wishes in Christ Jesus to you both!

(me trying to be lighthearted here) I am personally not into weight lifting (while studying) so the Lenova Twist will not be for me...but I can see where it might be satisfying (blessings).

Bill, I would love a Surface Pro 2 but my bonus was not large enough this year and so I bought my wife the cowboy boots she wants instead (we live in Rhode Island and do not own horses...go figure).

I need to learn to be happy I have a laptop and software...and be content in all things.

Blessings everyone.....FEAR NOT....Jesus has come and will come again.
