Overview
Crystal Clark arrives in Colorado's Yampa Valley amid the splendor of a high country June in 1892. After the death of her father, Crystal is relieved to be leaving the troubles of her Georgia life behind to visit her aunt Kate's cattle ranch. Despite being raised as a proper Southern belle, Crystal is determined to hold her own in this wild land--even if a certain handsome foreman doubts her abilities. Just when she thinks she's getting a handle on the constant male attention from the cowhands and the catty barbs from some of the local young women, tragedy strikes the ranch. Crystal will have to tap all of her resolve to save the ranch from a greedy neighboring landowner. Can she rise to the challenge? Or will she head back to Georgia defeated? Book one in the Heart of the West series, No Place for a Lady is full of adventure, romance, and the indomitable human spirit. Readers will fall in love with the Colorado setting and the spunky Southern belle who wants to claim it as her own.

For a first novel I think this was a good start. The book is a christian / inspirational romance.

Maggie Brendan’s debut novel, No Place for a Lady, combines many elements that make for a great historical read: a pampered Southern belle, an ambitious cowboy on her aunt’s cattle ranch, love interests who come between them, tragedy, conflicts and surprises. Set against the breathtaking backdrop... ...more

This is a western “romance”. This is mainly the story of Crystal, a southern belle, who has lost her father and has had to sell her house and goes to live to Colorado, where her aunt has a ranch. I think that the author manages quite well to describe how she sees Colorado through southern biased... ...more

Why, thank you Milford! I just can't imagine her staying in the Yampa, even if the doubting Thomas seems a bit handsome!

Well, I was right. I went to purchase the volume. My first. It put it in my cart. But I couldn't see how to 'pay'. Then I noticed the tiny 'Cart' at the top. So I clicked on that. It said 'who are you??' (even though my cookies work in Logos.com). So I told it. Then it went back to my cart and said it was empty.
That's when I decided finding out about the Yampa was not in my future (or Vyrso for that matter!).

Yes, Mitchener (sp?) was really good. A definite classic! But down here in Navajo land, it was the nasty Coloradans that marched the Navajos off to eastern New Mexico. Us northern AZ'ers have never really forgiven them for that.
The book link on your first entry was correct. Vyrso's not obvious how to pay. And once you decide to pay (here, free), it doesn't accept Logos.com credentials. And after you re-enter your credentials, it looses your book!
I don't know, but I'd bet it doesn't ship the Vyrso book to a selected device like Kindle. Just guessing though. I gave up.

Blessings, Denise! *smile* Sorry, but I don't quite understand! I've never, ever had any Vyrso.com credentials ........ only my Logos.com credentials .......... ...and that's where all my Vyrso books are ... in my Logos Library ..
so!!!! They all show up on my four Logos Apps! Kindle Fire also has the ability to use the Logos App, so one -- I would think! -- should be able to view ones "free" purchases on Kindle, eh???!!!

Milford, when I say it doesn't accept the Logos.com creditials, I'm referring to the cookies. You have to sign in again. But then it looses your order.

Denise,
but once you're logged in to Vyrso, nothing refrains you from adding the book to your cart and checkout again. If you don't delete the cookie, next time Vyrso will recognize you and all is well.
Using the forums from different PCs, I sometimes wonder when the Logos website carries along the logged-in state and when not.
But it seems, what you experinece is a website bug - the page shouldn't empty the cart when you log in (the carts are machine-specific rather than user-specific anyway).
