Why the major Price Diff? Is NICOT in Logos worth 400 more than another program?

I love Logos and having all my books in one place but when we are talking well over twice the price for a set of commentaries it makes me wonder how much extra Logos is worth.

I've looked at the other Bible software a few times but not sure I want to invest in it. Just wondering if anyone else had taken the plunge on the cheaper version of Nicot/Nicnt

Given that the other Bible software company also has several other big sets substantially cheaper, running off two platforms isn't that big a deal. I run off of four. Currently the other Bible software company has my 'mapping' resources.

That said, depends on if you love NICOT/NICNT. Quite a few on this forum seem to really love it. In that case, Logos is your only choice.

I was actually referring to the Olive one and it has NICOT/NICNT on Sale for half of what Logos offers it for.

What are the comparative capabilities and tagging of the two applications? Has Olive moved beyond iOS?

I don't own the NICOT/NT. I would <like> to own them, but they are beyond my means at present. To me the question isn't "are they worth 400 more" but are they worth X in the other format.

I like Logos because it is like a digital research assistant. It holds my library. Sometimes books go on sale on Kindle, and are much more in Logos. In some cases, it is easy to make a personal book of those resources. In other cases, that task is much more difficult. I purchased a systematic theology book for $2.99 on a special deal... Logos has an older version of the book for $50. The $2.99 was worth it to me. It isn't a book that would be easy to convert to a personal book, however, and so the $2.99 was about my limit.

Another book which I have wanted in Logos went on sale last week for $1.99. Logos doesn't carry the resource so I was overjoyed to pick it up for such a low price. I have already converted it, but would like to clean it up (making sure proper heading styles are used to make a decent TOC, etc). The clean up process takes a considerable amount of time.

The NICOT/NT would not make good candidates for personal books. For that reason, the price would have to be REALLY cheap for me to consider picking it up.

Has Olive moved beyond iOS?

Looked it up and answered my own question. Olive Tree software indeed offers NIC for a superb price, but it is iOS only; therefore, it value for serious Bible study will be seriously limited.

Recognizing Jack's iOS answer, OliveTree on the PC isn't much better than the iOS version. And both elude my comprehension. I have USB Handbooks, NETS and something else on there and DREAM of Logos getting NETS. And DREAM of a decent sale on BOTH USB Handbooks in Logos (they discounted one of them).

I'd never use OliveTree for more than the most simple of reading. In the old Microsoft mobile days, it was the cat's meow. But they haven't kept up. Accordance passed them by. And Logos pass Accordance by.

Thanks everyone, I downloaded their Bible Study App for Windows. It does seem to be a simple E-Reader with a capability to take notes/highlights. I will probably just wait for a Logos Sale or till my Book Allowance replenishes or hopefully both!

I know OT passage guide and lack of proper citations makes resources there less desirable and I hate to say it but I am fairly sure you will never see it offered at Logos at that price. Logos values the tagging they have done as enhancing the works beyond other software. And more importantly Logos policy is to never offer a product lower than the pre pub price. I hope I am wrong and Logos goes ahead and offers some more competitive prices, but I don't see it happening. I did not mean to suggest Logos is not a good value, just that some sale prices others offer are prices that seem only a dream to have in Logos.

That's the way I tend to operate. It's the way I built my print library – and it is the way I tend to build my digital library. Sure, I have bought some whole series at "special prices" – WBC springs to mind, but I tend to buy single volumes as I need them. Then, if special offer sales on bundles come up, I get credit for what I already own in Logos from a particular set, when I buy the rest. Logos' Dynamic pricing is a win-win situation! [:D]

The Olive Tree website lists this as available on Mac and Windows as well as IOS and Android. I don't have this on Olivetree however I do have a number of titles I bought on sale (including WBC). I got NICNT/NICOT on pre pub and I do feel that the Logos version at that price was worth the difference (not to mention that I can access it at Biblia or Faithlife when don't have my computer with me [:)]) At the current offer price I think I'd wait for this to go on sale or seriously consider the current sale at the other software company (I don't know that having this resource in Logos would be worth and extra $1000 to me).
